Feel like you have overpriced insurance coverage? It’s quite common and there are lots of people in the same boat. Many insurers compete for your business, and it can be difficult to compare rates and uncover the absolute best price available.
Double check you’re getting these discounts
Companies do not list all possible discounts very clearly, so we researched both the well known as well as some of the hidden savings tricks you should be using when you buy car insurance online.
- Multi-Vehicle Discounts – Purchasing coverage when you have multiple cars on one policy qualifies for this discount.
- Air Bags and Passive Restraints – Vehicles equipped with air bags may earn rate discounts of 25 to 30%.
- Full Payment Discount – If you pay your bill all at once rather than spreading payments over time you could save 5% or more.
- Memberships – Affiliation with specific professional or occupational memberships or organizations could qualify you for a break on auto insurance.
- Discount for Home Ownership – Simply owning a home may trigger a policy discount on auto insurance due to the fact that maintaining a home requires a higher level of personal finance.
- Low Miles Discount – Keeping the miles down on your Mazda may enable drivers to earn substantially lower rates.
Just know that many deductions do not apply to your bottom line cost. Most only apply to individual premiums such as physical damage coverage or medical payments. So despite the fact that it appears adding up those discounts means a free policy, auto insurance companies aren’t that generous. But all discounts will bring down the amount you have to pay.
Companies and their possible discounts include:
- American Family has discounts for accident-free, TimeAway discount, early bird, bundled insurance, Steer into Savings, and air bags.
- Farm Bureau may offer discounts for 55 and retired, multi-vehicle, driver training, safe driver, multi-policy, renewal discount, and good student.
- State Farm has savings for Steer Clear safe driver discount, anti-theft, safe vehicle, passive restraint, multiple policy, Drive Safe & Save, and student away at school.
- Travelers policyholders can earn discounts including multi-car, new car, multi-policy, hybrid/electric vehicle, payment discounts, save driver, and early quote.

Special considerations
When it comes to buying adequate coverage, there isn’t really a “perfect” insurance plan. Everyone’s needs are different so your insurance should reflect that For instance, these questions may help you determine if your situation might need an agent’s assistance.
- Are split liability limits better than a combined single limit?
- Am I covered when pulling a rental trailer?
- Do I need to file an SR-22 for a DUI in my state?
- Should I put collision coverage on all my vehicles?
- What can I do if my company won’t pay a claim?
- Am I covered if I crash into my own garage door?
- Which companies will insure high-risk drivers?
- Is my business laptop covered if it gets stolen from my vehicle?
- Am I covered by my spouse’s policy after a separation?
- Do I have coverage when making deliveries for my home business?
If you don’t know the answers to these questions, you might consider talking to an agent. To find an agent in your area, fill out this quick form or click here for a list of insurance companies in your area. It only takes a few minutes and can help protect your family.
Car insurance specifics
Understanding the coverages of your car insurance policy can be of help when determining the right coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. Policy terminology can be difficult to understand and reading a policy is terribly boring. Shown next are the normal coverages found on most car insurance policies.
UM/UIM Coverage
Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage gives you protection when other motorists either have no liability insurance or not enough. It can pay for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Due to the fact that many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, their liability coverage can quickly be exhausted. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is a good idea.
Medical costs insurance
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP pay for short-term medical expenses for doctor visits, rehabilitation expenses, ambulance fees and nursing services. They are often used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. They cover both the driver and occupants and also covers getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP coverage is not an option in every state and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Coverage for collisions
This coverage pays for damage to your MPV resulting from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision insurance covers claims such as driving through your garage door, colliding with a tree, damaging your car on a curb, rolling your car and crashing into a building. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are older. It’s also possible to raise the deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.
Comprehensive or Other Than Collision
Comprehensive insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. You first have to pay a deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims like damage from flooding, damage from getting keyed, damage from a tornado or hurricane, a broken windshield and hail damage. The most a car insurance company will pay at claim time is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
Liability car insurance
Liability coverage can cover injuries or damage you cause to other people or property by causing an accident. It protects you from claims by other people, and doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. Your policy might show limits of 50/100/50 which stand for a $50,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $100,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property.
Liability coverage protects against claims like pain and suffering, loss of income and emergency aid. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is up to you, but buy higher limits if possible.
Don’t break the bank
We’ve covered a lot of tips how to lower your 1991 Mazda MPV insurance auto insurance rates. The key concept to understand is the more price quotes you have, the higher your chance of finding low cost car insurance. You may be surprised to find that the most savings is with some of the smallest insurance companies. These smaller insurers often have lower premium rates on specific markets than the large multi-state companies such as State Farm and Allstate.
A few companies do not offer online price quotes and usually these smaller providers only sell coverage through independent insurance agents. Budget-conscious 1991 Mazda MPV insurance is available online and from local insurance agents, and you should be comparing both so you have a total pricing picture.
