To do that, you would have to go to each individual site and enter your policy data, which can be really labor intensive.

When do I need an agent’s advice?
When choosing adequate coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is no perfect coverage plan. Everyone’s situation is a little different so your insurance needs to address that. For example, these questions might help in determining whether your personal situation could use an agent’s help.
- Does my insurance cover a custom paint job?
- Is rental equipment covered for theft or damage?
- What is UM/UIM insurance?
- Is my teenager covered with friends in the car?
- Can I afford low physical damage deductibles?
- Is my cargo covered for damage or theft?
If it’s difficult to answer those questions but you think they might apply to your situation, then you may want to think about talking to an insurance agent. To find an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form or go to this page to view a list of companies. It’s fast, doesn’t cost anything and can provide invaluable advice.
Coverages available on your policy
Understanding the coverages of your policy can be of help when determining which coverages you need and the correct deductibles and limits. The terms used in a policy can be confusing and nobody wants to actually read their policy. These are the normal coverages offered by insurance companies.
Uninsured and underinsured coverage
Your UM/UIM coverage provides protection when the “other guys” either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. It can pay for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since a lot of drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is a good idea.
Coverage for medical payments
Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance pay for immediate expenses for things like prosthetic devices, ambulance fees, funeral costs and doctor visits. They are used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you do not have health coverage. They cover you and your occupants as well as any family member struck as a pedestrian. Personal injury protection coverage is not an option in every state but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
Collision insurance
This will pay to fix damage to your 911 resulting from a collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You have to pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision insurance covers things such as scraping a guard rail, sideswiping another vehicle, backing into a parked car and colliding with another moving vehicle. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so you might think about dropping it from lower value vehicles. You can also increase the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Liability coverage
Liability insurance protects you from injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people in an accident. This insurance protects YOU from claims by other people, and does not provide coverage for your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Coverage consists of three different limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You might see liability limits of 50/100/50 that translate to a $50,000 limit per person for injuries, $100,000 for the entire accident, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property.
Liability coverage pays for claims such as loss of income, emergency aid and repair costs for stationary objects. How much liability coverage do you need? That is up to you, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as much as you can afford.
Comprehensive coverages
Comprehensive insurance pays for damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive coverage protects against things such as hitting a deer, hitting a bird, theft and damage from getting keyed. The highest amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the cash value of the vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible consider dropping full coverage.
