Trying to find cheaper auto insurance rates for your Buick Roadmaster? Nobody that owns a car fancies paying their premiums for auto insurance, especially when they know the price is too high. Vehicle owners have so many car insurance companies to insure vehicles with, and even though it’s nice to have a selection, so many choices can make it hard to compare rates.
It’s a good idea to get comparison quotes occasionally because prices are usually higher with each renewal. Just because you found the best deal on Roadmaster insurance on your last policy there may be better deals available now. Ignore everything you know about auto insurance because you’re going to get a crash course in the easiest way to remove unneeded coverages and save money.
How to get auto insurance rate quotes
Many insurance companies allow consumers to get prices direct online. Getting prices online is fairly simple as you just enter the amount of coverage you want as requested by the quote form. After you submit the form their quoting system automatically retrieves your driving record and credit report and returns pricing information based on many factors. Being able to quote online makes it a lot easier to compare rates but the process of having to visit multiple sites and type in the same information is not the best way to spend an afternoon. But it’s absolutely necessary to have as many quotes as possible in order to get a lower rate.
There is a better way!
A less time-consuming method to find cheaper rates uses one simple form to obtain quotes from several companies at one time. The form is fast, requires much less work on your part, and makes rate comparisons much easier. After sending the form, it is rated with multiple companies and you can pick any one of the price quotes you receive.
If a lower price is quoted, it’s easy to complete the application and purchase the new policy. This process just takes a couple of minutes and may save quite a bit of money.
If you want to find out how much you can save on auto insurance, click here to open in new window and enter your information. If you have a policy now, it’s recommended you duplicate coverages and limits identical to your current policy. This way, you’re receiving a price comparison based on identical coverages.

Do drivers who switch really save?
Consumers can’t get away from ads for cheaper auto insurance from the likes of Progressive, Geico, Allstate and State Farm. They all tend to make the same promise that drivers will save a bundle if you just switch your auto insurance coverage to their company.
It sounds good, but how can they all save you money? It’s all in the wording.
Companies have an ideal profile for the type of driver that will be a good risk. For instance, a profitable risk profile should be between the ages of 40 and 55, has never had a claim, and insures a new vehicle. A customer who fits that profile will get very good premium rates and most likely will save a lot of money.
Consumers who don’t qualify for these criteria must pay a more expensive rate which translates to business not being written. If you listen closely, the ads state “drivers that switch” not “everyone that quotes” can save as much as they claim. That’s why insurance companies can state the savings.
Because of these techniques, drivers should do a price quote comparison at every renewal. It’s just too difficult to predict with any certainty which company will give you lower premium rates than your current company.
These discounts can cut car insurance rates
Some insurers do not advertise the entire discount list in an easy-to-find place, so the following is a list of a few of the more well known and the harder-to-find credits available to lower your premiums when you buy insurance coverage online.
- Payment Method – By making one initial payment rather than spreading payments over time you may reduce your total bill.
- Auto/Home Discount – If you can bundle your home and auto insurance with one company you could get a discount of up to 20% and get you low cost insurance coverage.
- Anti-lock Brakes – Cars and trucks with anti-lock braking systems have fewer accidents so you can save 10 percent or more.
- Safe Driver Discounts – Accident-free drivers may save up to 50% more on Roadmaster insurance compared to accident prone drivers.
- Claim Free – Insureds who avoid accidents and claims can earn big discounts compared to accident-prone drivers.
- Seat Belt Usage – Using a seat belt and requiring all passengers to buckle up before driving can save a little on the premium charged for medical payments and/or PIP.
One thing to note about discounts is that some of the credits will not apply to your bottom line cost. A few only apply to specific coverage prices like physical damage coverage or medical payments. So even though it sounds like you can get free auto insurance, it doesn’t quite work that way.
Larger car insurance companies and their possible discounts include:
- Travelers may include discounts for multi-car, hybrid/electric vehicle, multi-policy, new car, driver training, and IntelliDrive.
- 21st Century offers discounts including defensive driver, good student, teen driver, homeowners, automatic seat belts, student driver, and anti-lock brakes.
- State Farm offers premium reductions for Drive Safe & Save, safe vehicle, driver’s education, multiple autos, defensive driving training, and good student.
- Geico may offer discounts for membership and employees, five-year accident-free, defensive driver, daytime running lights, and seat belt use.
- SAFECO discounts include bundle discounts, drive less, safe driver, teen safe driver, and anti-theft.
- AAA has discounts for anti-theft, education and occupation, multi-policy, AAA membership discount, good student, pay-in-full, and good driver.
When getting free insurance coverage quotes, it’s a good idea to all companies you are considering which credits you are entitled to. Some credits may not apply in every state. If you would like to choose from a list of insurers offering car insurance discounts, follow this link.
When do I need an agent’s advice?
When choosing the right insurance coverage, there is no “perfect” insurance plan. Coverage needs to be tailored to your specific needs so your insurance should reflect that For instance, these questions might point out whether you might need an agent’s assistance.
- When would I need additional glass coverage?
- Is upholstery damage covered by car insurance?
- Is a blown tire covered by insurance?
- Is my trailer covered?
- Do I need medical payments coverage since I have good health insurance?
- Should I carry comprehensive and collision coverage?
- What vehicles should carry emergency assistance coverage?
If you don’t know the answers to these questions, you may need to chat with an agent. To find an agent in your area, complete this form or click here for a list of insurance coverage companies in your area. It only takes a few minutes and can help protect your family.

Auto insurance 101
Having a good grasp of a insurance policy can be of help when determining which coverages you need and the correct deductibles and limits. The coverage terms in a policy can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy. Shown next are the usual coverages found on the average insurance policy.
Comprehensive (Other than Collision)
This coverage will pay to fix damage from a wide range of events other than collision. You need to pay your deductible first then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive coverage pays for claims such as fire damage, a tree branch falling on your vehicle, falling objects, damage from getting keyed and rock chips in glass. The highest amount a insurance company will pay at claim time is the ACV or actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Medical expense insurance
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP provide coverage for bills for doctor visits, EMT expenses and pain medications. They can be used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance program or if you are not covered by health insurance. It covers not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants in addition to getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP coverage is only offered in select states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Auto liability insurance
This coverage will cover damages or injuries you inflict on other people or property that is your fault. It protects YOU against other people’s claims, and doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. You commonly see liability limits of 50/100/50 which means $50,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a limit of $100,000 in injury protection per accident, and a total limit of $50,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Another option is one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which limits claims to one amount without having the split limit caps.
Liability coverage pays for things like court costs, legal defense fees, attorney fees and structural damage. How much liability should you purchase? That is a decision to put some thought into, but consider buying as large an amount as possible.
Collision insurance
Collision coverage pays for damage to your Roadmaster caused by collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. A deductible applies and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision insurance covers claims such as sustaining damage from a pot hole, colliding with another moving vehicle, crashing into a ditch and hitting a mailbox. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. It’s also possible to choose a higher deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Protection from uninsured/underinsured drivers
Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when the “other guys” are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered losses include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since a lot of drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is a good idea. Normally these coverages are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
More comparisons equals lower rates
Some insurance companies may not provide online quoting regional carriers only sell through independent insurance agencies. Lower-priced 1992 Buick Roadmaster insurance is possible both online and from local insurance agents, so you should be comparing quotes from both to get a complete price analysis.
When trying to cut insurance costs, don’t be tempted to buy lower coverage limits just to save a few bucks. There are too many instances where an insured dropped uninsured motorist or liability limits only to regret that it was a big mistake. Your goal should be to purchase plenty of coverage at the best cost, but don’t skip important coverages to save money.
