Trying to find the cheapest insurance rates? Buyers have a choice when searching for affordable Audi A6 insurance. You can either waste hours calling around trying to get quotes or use the internet to find the lowest rates.
There is a better way to buy insurance so we’re going to tell you the proper way to price shop coverage for your Audi and find the cheapest rates from local insurance agents and online providers.
It is always a good idea to price shop coverage periodically due to the fact that insurance prices fluctuate regularly. If you had the best rates on A6 coverage on your last policy there may be better deals available now. Block out anything you think you know about insurance because I’m going to teach you the tricks you need to know to lower your annual insurance bill.
Find hidden discounts on auto insurance
Some insurers do not list their entire list of discounts very well, so the list below gives a summary of a few of the more well known as well as the least known discounts that may be available. If you’re not getting every credit available, you are throwing money away.
- Pay Upfront and Save – By paying your policy upfront rather than spreading payments over time you can avoid the installment charge.
- Bundle and Save – If you have multiple policies with the same company you could save as much as 10 to 15 percent.
- Discounts for Safe Drivers – Insureds who avoid accidents can save as much as half off their rates on A6 coverage than drivers with accident claims.
- Low Mileage Discounts – Fewer annual miles on your Audi may enable drivers to earn cheaper rates.
- Discounts for Multiple Vehicles – Drivers who insure several vehicles with the same company may reduce the rate for each vehicle.
- Discount for Home Ownership – Just owning your own home may trigger a policy discount on auto insurance because maintaining a house means you have a higher level of financial diligence.
You can save money using discounts, but many deductions do not apply to the entire policy premium. Most only cut the price of certain insurance coverages like comp or med pay. Even though it appears you would end up receiving a 100% discount, insurance companies wouldn’t stay in business.
A few of the larger companies and some of their more popular discounts include:
- Geico offers premium reductions for multi-policy, membership and employees, emergency military deployment, air bags, federal employee, and seat belt use.
- SAFECO offers discounts including teen safety rewards, bundle discounts, accident prevention training, multi-car, drive less, and safe driver.
- State Farm offers discounts for safe vehicle, good student, anti-theft, Drive Safe & Save, multiple autos, student away at school, and Steer Clear safe driver discount.
- MetLife includes discounts for good driver, defensive driver, accident-free, multi-policy, good student, and claim-free.
- 21st Century may offer discounts for anti-lock brakes, air bags, driver training, teen driver, early bird, good student, and theft prevention.
- Progressive has savings for multi-policy, online quote discount, online signing, homeowner, good student, and continuous coverage.
If you need lower rates, check with every insurance company how you can save money. Some discounts may not be offered in every state. For a list of insurers who offer online auto insurance quotes, click here to view.

Tailor your insurance coverage to you
When buying proper insurance coverage, there really is no single plan that fits everyone. Every situation is different.
For instance, these questions can aid in determining if you might need professional guidance.
- Do I need roadside assistance coverage?
- How much liability insurance is required?
- When should I not file a claim?
- If I drive on a suspended license am I covered?
- How can I get high-risk coverage after a DUI?
- Is my custom paint covered by insurance?
- Do I need more liability coverage?
If you can’t answer these questions but a few of them apply, you might consider talking to a licensed insurance agent. If you don’t have a local agent, complete this form. It is quick, free and you can get the answers you need.
Why you might not save $479 a year
Consumers get pounded daily by advertisements that claim the best prices by Geico, State Farm and Progressive. They all seem to state the claim that drivers can save some big amount if you change your policy.
That’s great but how can every company charge you less for auto insurance? Here is the trick they use.
All the different companies are able to cherry pick for the type of driver that will be a good risk. For instance, this type of driver might be described as over age 30, has had continuous coverage, and has a high credit rating. Anybody who matches those parameters receives the best auto insurance rates and will cut their rates if they switch.
Consumers who are not a match for the ideal profile will probably have to pay higher rates which usually ends up with the customer not buying. If you listen closely, the ads state “customers that switch” but not “all drivers who get quotes” will save that much if they switch. That is how companies can truthfully make claims like that.
This illustrates why it’s extremely important to compare as many free car insurance quotes as you can. Because you never know the company that will give you the biggest savings.
Car insurance coverage considerations
Having a good grasp of your car insurance policy helps when choosing appropriate coverage and the correct deductibles and limits. Policy terminology can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
Collision coverages – Collision insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You first must pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision can pay for things such as sideswiping another vehicle, crashing into a ditch, crashing into a building, colliding with another moving vehicle and driving through your garage door. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so you might think about dropping it from older vehicles. It’s also possible to increase the deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.
Comprehensive insurance – This coverage pays for damage from a wide range of events other than collision. You first have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive coverage pays for things like vandalism, fire damage and hail damage. The maximum amount a car insurance company will pay at claim time is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) – Your UM/UIM coverage provides protection when the “other guys” either have no liability insurance or not enough. This coverage pays for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and also any damage incurred to your Audi A6.
Since many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked. Frequently these coverages are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Auto liability – Liability coverage can cover injuries or damage you cause to other people or property in an accident. It protects you from legal claims by others. Liability doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
It consists of three limits, bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. You might see values of 50/100/50 which means a $50,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $100,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and property damage coverage for $50,000. Some companies may use one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which limits claims to one amount without having the split limit caps.
Liability insurance covers things like legal defense fees, repair bills for other people’s vehicles, repair costs for stationary objects, structural damage and pain and suffering. How much coverage you buy is your choice, but consider buying higher limits if possible.
Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP provide coverage for short-term medical expenses for prosthetic devices, doctor visits, EMT expenses, dental work and X-ray expenses. The coverages can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. Medical payments and PIP cover you and your occupants in addition to if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP coverage is not available in all states and may carry a deductible
