Trying to find the cheapest insurance rates for your Dodge Avenger? Price shopping your Driversinsurance may be difficult for drivers not familiar with buying insurance online. Since there are so many online companies available, it can easily be a difficult challenge to find more affordable rates.
You should make it a habit to shop coverage around once or twice a year because prices trend upward over time. Just because you had the best quotes for Avenger insurance on your last policy other companies may now be cheaper. Block out anything you think you know about insurance because I’m going to let you in on the secrets to the best methods to find better coverage at a better price.
Low cost auto insurance
To find cheaper insurance quotes, there are several ways of comparing rate quotes from different companies. The easiest way by far to find the cheapest Dodge Avenger insurance rates consists of shopping online. It’s really quite simple and can be done in a couple minutes as outlined below.
- Without a doubt, the easiest way to get the best comparison quotes is to use a rate comparison form like this one (opens in new window). This method saves time by eliminating a different quote for each company you want a rate for. Taking the time to complete one form gets coverage cost estimates direct from many companies. Recommended for those who want to invest the least amount of time.
- A different way to shop for auto insurance online requires a visit to each individual company website and go through the quote process again. For examples sake, we’ll pretend you want comparison quotes from USAA, 21st Century and Liberty Mutual. To find out each rate you need to take the time to go to each site and type in your information over and over, which can take a lot of time.

How you compare quotes is your choice, just try to use apples-to-apples coverage limits and deductibles for every quote you compare. If you are comparing mixed coverages you will not be able to make a fair comparison for your Dodge Avenger. Just a small difference in coverage limits could mean much higher rates. Just keep in mind that comparing more company’s prices will improve the odds of getting the best rates.

Discounts can really help to save
Some providers don’t list their entire list of discounts very clearly, so the below list has both well-publicized in addition to some of the lesser obvious credits available to you.
- College Student Discount – Kids who are attending college and won’t have access to an insured vehicle may qualify for this discount.
- One Accident Forgiven – This isn’t a discount exactly, but a handful of insurance companies will let one accident slide before they charge you more for coverage if you have no claims for a particular time prior to the accident.
- Switch and Save Discount – Some insurance companies provide a discount for renewing your policy early. This can save 10% or more.
- Discount for Low Mileage – Fewer annual miles on your Dodge may enable drivers to earn discounted insurancerates on garaged vehicles.
- Student Discounts – Maintaining excellent grades could provide a savings of up to 20% or more. Most companies allow this discount well after school through age 25.
- Save with More Vehicles Insured – Buying insurance for all your vehicles on one policy may reduce the rate for each vehicle.
- Drive Safe and Save – Drivers who don’t get into accidents can save as much as half off their rates for Avenger insurance as compared to drivers with claims.
As a footnote on discounts, most discount credits are not given to the entire policy premium. Most only reduce the cost of specific coverages such as physical damage coverage or medical payments. Even though it appears it’s possible to get free car insurance, you aren’t that lucky.
Larger insurance companies and some of the discounts can be read below.
- State Farm may offer discounts for driver’s education, accident-free, safe vehicle, anti-theft, defensive driving training, good student, and multiple policy.
- Liberty Mutual has discounts for good student, hybrid vehicle, safety features, exclusive group savings, new move discount, and teen driver discount.
- American Family offers discounts for air bags, Steer into Savings, multi-vehicle, accident-free, good student, and defensive driver.
- Progressive has savings for online signing, multi-policy, good student, online quote discount, multi-vehicle, homeowner, and continuous coverage.
- Farmers Insurance includes discounts for pay in full, business and professional, teen driver, youthful driver, and electronic funds transfer.
- Auto-Owners Insurance may include discounts for group or association, multiple vehicles, paperless, safe driver, and mature driver.
- SAFECO may have discounts that include homeowner, safe driver, accident prevention training, teen safety rewards, teen safe driver, anti-theft, and bundle discounts.
When comparing rates, check with each company or agent how you can save money. Discounts may not apply in your area. If you would like to see a list of insurers who offer insurance discounts, click here to view.
Will just any policy work for me?
When it comes to buying the best insurance coverage, there isn’t really a best way to insure your cars. Every situation is different.
Here are some questions about coverages that may help you determine whether your personal situation might need an agent’s assistance.
- Is pleasure use cheaper than using my 1997 Dodge Avenger to commute?
- Am I insured when driving a different vehicle?
- What discounts do I qualify for?
- Am I covered when using my vehicle for business?
- Why do I need rental car insurance?
- Does coverage extend to Mexico or Canada?
- What can I do if my company won’t pay a claim?
- Should I buy full coverage?
- Are all vehicle passengers covered by medical payments coverage?
If you don’t know the answers to these questions but one or more may apply to you then you might want to talk to a licensed insurance agent. To find an agent in your area, complete this form.
Car insurance coverage information
Having a good grasp of auto insurance can be of help when determining appropriate coverage for your vehicles. Auto insurance terms can be impossible to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance – This coverage gives you protection when the “other guys” either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered claims include hospital bills for your injuries and damage to your Dodge Avenger.
Since many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage is a good idea.
Liability coverages – Liability insurance can cover damage or injury you incur to a person or their property that is your fault. This coverage protects you from claims by other people, and doesn’t cover damage to your own property or vehicle.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. Your policy might show values of 25/50/25 which stand for a limit of $25,000 per injured person, a total of $50,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a limit of $25,000 paid for damaged property.
Liability can pay for things like funeral expenses, bail bonds, court costs, structural damage and emergency aid. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a personal decision, but consider buying as much as you can afford.
Insurance for medical payments – Med pay and PIP coverage reimburse you for bills such as nursing services, dental work and doctor visits. The coverages can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. It covers all vehicle occupants and also covers any family member struck as a pedestrian. Personal injury protection coverage is not available in all states and may carry a deductible
Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision) – This covers damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first have to pay a deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims like hitting a bird, falling objects, a tree branch falling on your vehicle and damage from getting keyed. The maximum amount your auto insurance company will pay is the ACV or actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible consider dropping full coverage.
Collision coverage – Collision coverage covers damage to your Avenger caused by collision with another car or object. You will need to pay your deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision coverage protects against claims such as crashing into a building, backing into a parked car and hitting a mailbox. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. You can also raise the deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.
