Cheaper insurance rates with discounts
The cost of insuring your cars can be expensive, but there are discounts available that can help lower your rates. A few discounts will be applied at the time of purchase, but a few must be specifically requested prior to getting the savings.
- Full Payment Discount – By paying your entire bill at once instead of paying each month you could save up to 5%.
- Discount for Home Ownership – Being a homeowner can get you a discount because of the fact that having a home demonstrates responsibility.
- Claim-Free Discount – Insureds with no claims or accidents can save substantially compared to drivers who are more careless.
- Theft Deterent System – Cars that have factory anti-theft systems are stolen less frequently and qualify for as much as a 10% discount.
- Data Collection Discounts – Drivers who elect to allow their insurance company to analyze driving habits by using a small device installed in their vehicle such as State Farm’s In-Drive may get a rate reduction if they are good drivers.
- Auto/Home Discount – If you have multiple policies and place coverage with the same company you could earn a discount of 10% to 20% off each policy.
We need to note that most credits do not apply to your bottom line cost. Most only reduce the cost of specific coverages such as liability and collision coverage. So when it seems like you can get free auto insurance, you’re out of luck.

Tailor your insurance coverage to you
When buying coverage, there really is no one size fits all plan. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s.
Here are some questions about coverages that may help highlight if your insurance needs would benefit from professional advice.
- What is medical payments coverage?
- Is borrowed equipment or tools covered if stolen or damaged?
- Do I need replacement cost coverage?
- Will I lose any money if I cancel my policy before it expires?
- When should I not file a claim?
- Am I covered when driving in Canada or Mexico?
If you can’t answer these questions then you might want to talk to an agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, simply complete this short form.
Coverage specifics
Understanding the coverages of your insurance policy helps when choosing the right coverages for your vehicles. Policy terminology can be confusing and coverage can change by endorsement.
Collision insurance
This pays for damage to your Sebring caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. A deductible applies and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision can pay for things like driving through your garage door, sideswiping another vehicle, colliding with a tree and sustaining damage from a pot hole. This coverage can be expensive, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are older. You can also choose a higher deductible to save money on collision insurance.
Liability insurance
This can cover damage that occurs to other people or property in an accident. It protects you from legal claims by others, and does not provide coverage for your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Liability coverage has three limits: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You commonly see liability limits of 100/300/100 that means you have $100,000 bodily injury coverage, $300,000 for the entire accident, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Another option is one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which provides one coverage limit without having the split limit caps.
Liability coverage pays for claims like emergency aid, attorney fees and funeral expenses. How much liability should you purchase? That is up to you, but you should buy as large an amount as possible.
Comprehensive or Other Than Collision
This coverage covers damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims such as damage from getting keyed, hitting a deer and rock chips in glass. The maximum amount you’ll receive from a claim is the actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
UM/UIM Coverage
This coverage protects you and your vehicle from other drivers when they either have no liability insurance or not enough. Covered claims include medical payments for you and your occupants as well as damage to your Chrysler Sebring.
Because many people have only the minimum liability required by law, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is a good idea. Normally your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Medical costs insurance
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP reimburse you for short-term medical expenses for ambulance fees, prosthetic devices, nursing services and rehabilitation expenses. They can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. They cover not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP is not universally available and may carry a deductible
Shop smart and save
As you shop your coverage around, don’t be tempted to sacrifice coverage to reduce premiums. There have been many cases where an insured dropped uninsured motorist or liability limits and discovered at claim time that saving that couple of dollars actually costed them tens of thousands. The ultimate goal is to get the best coverage possible at the lowest possible cost while still protecting your assets.
Cost effective 1998 Chrysler Sebring insurance can be purchased on the web and with local insurance agents, and you should compare rates from both in order to have the best price selection to choose from. Some insurance companies may not offer rates over the internet and these small insurance companies provide coverage only through independent insurance agencies.
People change insurance companies for a number of reasons such as questionable increases in premium, high prices, policy cancellation or even unfair underwriting practices. Regardless of your reason for switching companies, choosing a new company can be easier than you think.
