Trying to find cheaper car insurance rates for your Chevrolet Suburban? I really doubt anyone loves paying for car insurance, in particular when the price is too high.
There is such a variety of insurance companies to pick from, and although it’s a good thing to have multiple companies, it can be more difficult to adequately compare rates.
Ways to get insurance coverage quotes
Performing a rate comparison is a ton of work if you don’t know the most efficient way. You could waste time discussing policy coverages with insurance companies in your area, or you can stay home and use the web to quickly compare rates.
Many companies belong to an insurance system where insurance shoppers enter their coverage request one time, and every company returns a competitive quote determined by their information. This system prevents you from having to do quote forms for each company you want a rate for. To fill out one form to compare multiple rates now click here to start a free quote.
The one downside to pricing coverage this way is you can’t choose the companies you want to price. If you wish to select individual companies to compare, we have assembled a list of insurance coverage companies in your area. Click here to view list.
However you get your quotes, compare equivalent coverage limits for each price quote. If you use different deductibles you will not be able to make a fair rate comparison. Just a small difference in coverages may result in a large different in cost. And when comparison shopping, obtaining a wide range of quotes provides better odds of finding a better price.

Drivers who switch save $430 a year? Really?
Respected companies like Allstate and Progressive consistently run television and radio advertisements. All the companies advertise claims about saving some big amount if you move your insurance policy to them. How do they all say the same thing? It’s all in how they say it.
Different companies look for specific characteristics for the type of customer that earns them the highest profit. For instance, a profitable risk profile may need to be married and over the age of 30, has never had a policy lapse, and drives a lower-performance vehicle. A customer who fits that profile will get low rates and will most likely save if they switch.
Insureds who fall short of the “perfect” profile must pay higher rates with the end result being business going elsewhere. The wording the ads use say “drivers that switch” not “everyone who quotes” save that much when switching. That’s why companies can truthfully state the savings.
This really illustrates why it’s extremely important to get car insurance quotes from several different companies. You cannot predict the company that will be your best fit.
Get cheaper car insurance quotes with discounts
Not many people think insurance is cheap, but there may be some discounts to help offset the cost. Certain credits will be shown when you purchase, but occassionally some discounts must be specially asked for prior to getting the savings.
- Life Insurance – Not every insurance company offers life insurance, but if they do you may earn better premium rates if you take out a life insurance policy as well.
- Early Renewal Discounts – Some car insurance companies provide a discount for switching to them prior to the expiration date on your current policy. Ten percent is about the average savings.
- Home Ownership Discount – Owning a house can earn you a little savings since owning and maintaining a home is proof that your finances are in order.
- Multi-policy Discount – If you can bundle your home and auto insurance and insure them both with the same insurance company you could earn a discount of 10% to 20% off each policy.
- Sign Online – Some insurance companies will give you a small discount simply for signing on your computer.
A quick disclaimer, most credits do not apply to the overall cost of the policy. The majority will only reduce individual premiums such as comp or med pay. Even though the math looks like you would end up receiving a 100% discount, you aren’t that lucky.

Tailor your car insurance coverage to you
When it comes to choosing proper insurance coverage, there really is not a cookie cutter policy. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s so this has to be addressed. Here are some questions about coverages that may help highlight whether or not you will benefit from professional help.
- Is my camper covered by my car insurance policy?
- Is my vehicle covered by my employer’s policy when using it for work?
- How do I file an SR-22 for a DUI in my state?
- Is my trailer covered?
- Can I make deliveries for my home business?
- Are all vehicle passengers covered by medical payments coverage?
- Is my Chevy Suburban covered if I use it for business?
- Is business equipment covered while in my vehicle?
- Is my cargo covered for damage or theft?
- Do I need an umbrella policy?
If you can’t answer these questions but you know they apply to you then you might want to talk to an agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, complete this form or click here for a list of car insurance companies in your area.

Auto insurance coverage information
Understanding the coverages of a car insurance policy helps when choosing the right coverages for your vehicles. Policy terminology can be impossible to understand and coverage can change by endorsement. Below you’ll find the usual coverages available from car insurance companies.
Collision – This coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage from colliding with an object or car. You first must pay a deductible then your collision coverage will kick in.
Collision coverage protects against claims like scraping a guard rail, colliding with a tree, driving through your garage door, crashing into a building and damaging your car on a curb. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so consider dropping it from lower value vehicles. It’s also possible to bump up the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Comprehensive protection – This coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. You need to pay your deductible first then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive can pay for claims such as hail damage, a broken windshield, rock chips in glass and hitting a deer. The most your car insurance company will pay is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Auto liability insurance – This coverage will cover damage or injury you incur to other’s property or people that is your fault. This insurance protects YOU from legal claims by others. It does not cover damage to your own property or vehicle.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. As an example, you may have policy limits of 25/50/25 which stand for $25,000 bodily injury coverage, a limit of $50,000 in injury protection per accident, and a total limit of $25,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Some companies may use one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which provides one coverage limit rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability insurance covers things such as pain and suffering, emergency aid and structural damage. How much coverage you buy is a decision to put some thought into, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as much as you can afford.
Uninsured or underinsured coverage – Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage gives you protection from other motorists when they either have no liability insurance or not enough. It can pay for injuries to you and your family as well as damage to your Chevy Suburban.
Because many people carry very low liability coverage limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is important protection for you and your family. Most of the time these coverages are set the same as your liablity limits.
Medical expense coverage – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage kick in for bills for things like X-ray expenses, prosthetic devices, dental work, surgery and ambulance fees. The coverages can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance program or if you do not have health coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover both the driver and occupants and will also cover if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal injury protection coverage is not universally available and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Take this to the bank
You just read some good ideas how you can compare 1999 Chevy Suburban insurance car insurance rates online. It’s most important to understand that the more you quote car insurance, the more likely it is that you will get a better rate. Drivers may discover the best price on insurance is with the smaller companies. Smaller companies often have lower premium rates on specific markets than the large multi-state companies such as Progressive or Geico.
As you restructure your insurance plan, never skimp on coverage in order to save money. There have been many cases where an insured cut uninsured motorist or liability limits only to regret at claim time that saving that couple of dollars actually costed them tens of thousands. The proper strategy is to buy enough coverage for the lowest price while still protecting your assets.
