Looking for cheaper auto insurance rates for your Isuzu Trooper? If you’ve never shopped for insurance coverage quotes online, you may be bewildered thanks to the incredible selection local agents and online companies who all claim to have the lowest rates.
Cheaper rates with these discounts
Auto insurance companies do not list every available discount in an easy-to-find place, so the list below gives a summary of a few of the more well known and the harder-to-find discounts that you may qualify for.
- Paper-free Discount – Certain larger companies will give you a small discount for completing your application on the internet.
- Seat Belt Usage – Drivers who require all occupants to buckle up can save up to 15% off the medical payments premium.
- Military Deployment Discount – Having a deployed family member could qualify you for better prices.
- Early Payment Discounts – If you can afford to pay the entire bill instead of paying each month you could save up to 5%.
- Renewal Discounts – Some companies reward drivers for switching to them prior to your current policy expiring. This discount can save up to 10%.
While discounts sound great, it’s important to understand that most credits do not apply to the entire policy premium. Most cut the price of certain insurance coverages like collision or personal injury protection. Even though the math looks like adding up those discounts means a free policy, that’s just not realistic. But all discounts will reduce your policy premiums.
A list of car insurance companies and a partial list of their discounts are:
- State Farm may offer discounts for anti-theft, safe vehicle, multiple policy, defensive driving training, Drive Safe & Save, passive restraint, and student away at school.
- Geico discounts include emergency military deployment, multi-vehicle, anti-lock brakes, daytime running lights, multi-policy, anti-theft, and good student.
- Liberty Mutual includes discounts for multi-car, exclusive group savings, teen driver discount, good student, and new move discount.
- The Hartford may have discounts that include defensive driver, bundle, good student, driver training, anti-theft, air bag, and vehicle fuel type.
- MetLife offers premium reductions for defensive driver, accident-free, multi-policy, good driver, and good student.
- Progressive has savings for online quote discount, multi-vehicle, continuous coverage, good student, homeowner, multi-policy, and online signing.

Low cost car insurance prices
Effectively comparing car insurance prices is a ton of work if you don’t know the fastest way to get free quotes. You could waste a few hours talking about coverages with insurance agencies in your area, or you could use the web to quickly compare rates.
Many insurance companies take part in a program that enables customers to submit their information once, and each participating company provides a quote based on that data. This system prevents you from having to do quote requests to each company. To compare rates now click here to open in new window.
One minor caviat to getting quotes like this is you cannot specify which companies you want to price. If you would rather choose from a list of companies for rate comparison, we have a listing of the cheapest car insurance companies in your area. Click here for list of insurance companies.
Whichever method you choose, do your best to enter exactly the same coverage limits and deductibles on every quote. If you enter different data it will be very difficult to truly determine the lowest rate. Even a minor difference in insurance coverages or limits can result in a big premium difference. Keep in mind that comparing more quotes will increase your chances of finding more affordable insurance. Some smaller insurers to not give quotes online, so it’s important to compare price estimates from them, too.
Insurance coverage can be complex
When it comes to choosing the best insurance coverage coverage, there isn’t really a “best” method to buy coverage. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s.
For instance, these questions may help highlight whether or not you will benefit from professional help.
- Does coverage extend to my business vehicle?
- Is my ex-spouse still covered by my policy?
- Should I carry comprehensive and collision coverage?
- Should I buy more coverage than the required minimum liability coverage?
- Does my personal policy cover me when driving out-of-state?
- Does my liability insurance cover pulling a trailer or camper?
- Will my vehicle be repaired with OEM or aftermarket parts?
- When should I buy a commercial auto policy?
If you can’t answer these questions but a few of them apply, you might consider talking to an insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, fill out this quick form.
Coverages available on your policy
Understanding the coverages of a insurance policy helps when choosing which coverages you need and the correct deductibles and limits. Policy terminology can be confusing and reading a policy is terribly boring.
Collision coverage – This covers damage to your Trooper resulting from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You first must pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision insurance covers things such as scraping a guard rail, colliding with another moving vehicle and colliding with a tree. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from vehicles that are older. It’s also possible to bump up the deductible to bring the cost down.
Medical costs insurance – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage kick in for short-term medical expenses like dental work, EMT expenses, hospital visits and X-ray expenses. They are utilized in addition to your health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. Coverage applies to not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants in addition to if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal injury protection coverage is not universally available but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Liability – This will cover damages or injuries you inflict on people or other property in an accident. This insurance protects YOU against other people’s claims, and does not provide coverage for damage to your own property or vehicle.
Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. You might see liability limits of 25/50/25 which stand for a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $50,000, and property damage coverage for $25,000.
Liability coverage pays for claims such as court costs, attorney fees, pain and suffering, loss of income and structural damage. How much liability should you purchase? That is your choice, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
Comprehensive or Other Than Collision – This will pay to fix damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You need to pay your deductible first then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for things like rock chips in glass, damage from getting keyed, hitting a deer, hail damage and damage from flooding. The most your insurance company will pay is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low consider removing comprehensive coverage.
UM/UIM Coverage – Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle when other motorists either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. This coverage pays for hospital bills for your injuries as well as damage to your 1999 Isuzu Trooper.
Since a lot of drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, their limits can quickly be used up. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked.

A tidy conclusion
Discount 1999 Isuzu Trooper insurance is attainable online in addition to local insurance agencies, so you should compare both to have the best chance of lowering rates. Some insurance providers may not offer price quotes online and these smaller companies provide coverage only through independent agencies.
Drivers leave their current company for any number of reasons including high rates after DUI convictions, policy non-renewal, poor customer service and even lack of trust in their agent. No matter why you want to switch, switching insurance companies is not as difficult as it may seem.
As you shop your coverage around, it’s very important that you do not buy less coverage just to save a little money. Too many times, an accident victim reduced comprehensive coverage or liability limits only to regret at claim time that it was a big mistake. Your focus should be to buy enough coverage for the lowest price, but don’t skip important coverages to save money.
