Want the cheapest car insurance rates for your Mitsubishi Galant? Finding low cost rates for Driverscar insurance is quite difficult for drivers who are new to comparing prices online. With such a large choice of online companies available, it can be more work than you anticipated to find more affordable rates.
If you currently have a car insurance policy, you should be able to reduce your rates substantially using this strategy. Shopping for the cheapest coverage is easy if you know what you’re doing. Nevertheless, vehicle owners do need to know how big insurance companies compete online.
Compare insurance rates
Performing a rate comparison can take time and effort if you don’t know the most efficient way. You could waste time driving to insurance companies in your area, or you could save time and use the internet to quickly compare rates.
Many insurance companies belong to an insurance system that enables customers to submit their information once, and each company returns a competitive quote determined by their information. This prevents consumers from doing form submissions for each company you want a rate for. To find out how much you’re overpaying now click here to open in new window.
The only drawback to comparing rates this way is you are unable to specify the insurers to get pricing from. If you would rather choose specific providers to compare prices, we have assembled a list of insurance companies in your area. View list of insurance companies.
Whichever method you choose, ensure you’re using the same deductibles and coverage limits for each quote you get. If you are comparing mixed coverages it will be nearly impossible to determine the lowest rate for your Mitsubishi Galant. Quoting even small variations in limits could skew the results. Keep in mind that having more price comparisons increases the change that you will find the best price.

Use discounts to get cheaper insurance coverage rates
Insurance coverage is not inexpensive, but companies offer discounts that can drop the cost substantially. A few discounts will be applied at quote time, but a few must be specifically requested before you will receive the discount.
- Discount for Life Insurance – Larger insurance carriers have a lower price if you buy a life policy as well.
- Air Bags and Passive Restraints – Factory air bags or motorized seat belts can receive discounts of 20% or more.
- Bundled Policy Discount – When you combine your auto and home insurance and insure them with the same company you could get a discount of at least 10 to 15 percent or more.
- Sign Online – A handful of companies will provide an incentive for signing up digitally online.
- Homeowners Discount – Just owning your own home can save you money since home ownership requires a higher level of personal finance.
- Braking Control Discount – Cars, trucks, and SUVs with anti-lock braking systems can avoid accidents and qualify for as much as a 10% discount.
Discounts lower rates, but some credits don’t apply to all coverage premiums. Most only apply to the price of certain insurance coverages like collision or personal injury protection. Just because you may think having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, that’s just not realistic. Any amount of discount will help reduce your overall bill.
Companies and a partial list of their discounts are:
- Geico offers discounts for emergency military deployment, military active duty, daytime running lights, defensive driver, air bags, and membership and employees.
- Auto-Owners Insurance offers premium reductions for company car, paid in full, good student, safe driver, and safe vehicle.
- American Family discounts include TimeAway discount, early bird, bundled insurance, multi-vehicle, Steer into Savings, good student, and defensive driver.
- Esurance has savings for good driver, homeowner, anti-lock brakes, paid-in-full, and Pac-12 alumni.
- Progressive may have discounts that include multi-policy, multi-vehicle, good student, homeowner, online quote discount, and continuous coverage.
- State Farm may include discounts for driver’s education, good student, passive restraint, Steer Clear safe driver discount, Drive Safe & Save, and safe vehicle.
- AAA offers discounts including pay-in-full, multi-policy, anti-theft, good student, education and occupation, good driver, and AAA membership discount.
When getting free auto insurance quotes, it’s a good idea to each insurance company what discounts are available to you. Some discounts might not be available to policyholders in your area.
Tailor your insurance coverage coverage to you
When buying the best insurance coverage coverage, there really is no best way to insure your cars. Everyone’s needs are different.
Here are some questions about coverages that may help highlight if you will benefit from professional help.
- Am I covered if my car is in a flood?
- Do I have newly-aquired coverage?
- Should I waive the damage coverage when renting a car?
- Do I need higher collision deductibles?
- Should I buy more coverage than the required minimum liability coverage?
- Will I lose any money if I cancel my policy before it expires?
- Can I get a multi-policy discount for packaging my home and auto coverage?
- Is my state a no-fault state?
- Why am I be forced to buy a membership to get insurance from some companies?
- Do I really need UM/UIM coverage?
If you’re not sure about those questions but a few of them apply, then you may want to think about talking to an insurance agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, simply complete this short form.
Detailed coverages of your insurance policy
Learning about specific coverages of your policy can help you determine the best coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. Insurance terms can be ambiguous and coverage can change by endorsement.
Liability coverage
This coverage provides protection from damages or injuries you inflict on other’s property or people in an accident. It protects YOU against other people’s claims, and doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Liability coverage has three limits: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. As an example, you may have policy limits of 50/100/50 which means $50,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a total of $100,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a total limit of $50,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Another option is one number which is a combined single limit that pays claims from the same limit and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability can pay for claims like loss of income, attorney fees, pain and suffering, legal defense fees and structural damage. How much coverage you buy is a decision to put some thought into, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as large an amount as possible.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage
This coverage protects you and your vehicle from other drivers when they either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants and damage to your Mitsubishi Galant.
Since a lot of drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, their limits can quickly be used up. So UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked. Usually your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
Comprehensive coverage
Comprehensive insurance coverage will pay to fix damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive insurance covers claims such as hitting a deer, damage from a tornado or hurricane, a tree branch falling on your vehicle and hail damage. The most you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
Collision insurance
Collision insurance pays for damage to your Galant resulting from colliding with another car or object. You have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision coverage pays for claims such as sideswiping another vehicle, crashing into a building and scraping a guard rail. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are older. You can also choose a higher deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Medical payments coverage and PIP
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP kick in for bills for X-ray expenses, EMT expenses, funeral costs, dental work and prosthetic devices. They are used to fill the gap from your health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. It covers both the driver and occupants in addition to if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP is not available in all states and may carry a deductible
