Trying to find the cheapest auto insurance rates for your Volkswagen Cabrio? Finding cheaper premium rates for auto insurance may be hard for people new to online insurance quotes. People have so many different companies and agents to choose from that it can easily turn into a burden to locate the lowest price.
Locating cheaper insurance is simple if you know the tricks. In a nutshell, every vehicle owner who has to buy insurance should be able to reduce their rates. But car owners must understand how the larger insurance companies market on the web and take advantage of how the system works.
Which insurance coverage is cheapest?
Shopping for lower insurance coverage rates can take hours if you aren’t aware of the most efficient way. You could spend the better part of a day driving to agents in your area, or you can utilize online quoting to get prices fast.
All the larger companies belong to an insurance system where prospective buyers send in one quote, and each company returns a competitive quote based on that data. This prevents consumers from doing quotation requests for each company you want a rate for.

The one disadvantage to comparing rates this way is you don’t know exactly which companies to receive prices from. So if you prefer to pick specific insurance companies to receive pricing from, we have assembled a list of low cost insurance coverage companies in your area. Click to view list.
It’s up to you how you get prices quotes, just try to keep exactly the same coverage information for every company. If you are comparing different values for each quote it will be next to impossible to determine which rate is truly the best. Just slight variations in limits could mean much higher rates. And when quoting insurance coverage, remember that comparing all the rates in your area will increase your chances of finding a lower rate than you’re paying now. Some companies don’t provide price estimates online, so it’s recommended that you also compare price quotes from those companies as well.

Your situation helps dictate your coverage
When it comes to choosing adequate coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is not a best way to insure your cars. Every situation is different.
For example, these questions may help highlight whether or not you may require specific advice.
- Is motorclub coverage worth it?
- When would I need rental car insurance?
- Am I covered if I wreck a rental car?
- Am I missing any policy discounts?
- Does car insurance cover theft of personal property?
- What is high-risk coverage and where do I buy it?
- Is my custom paint covered by insurance?
- Am I covered when pulling a rental trailer?
- Should I buy full coverage?
If you don’t know the answers to these questions, you may need to chat with an agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, fill out this quick form.
Insurance coverage specifics
Understanding the coverages of your policy can be of help when determining which coverages you need at the best deductibles and correct limits. The terms used in a policy can be ambiguous and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording.
Coverage for medical payments – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage provide coverage for bills for pain medications, rehabilitation expenses, X-ray expenses, prosthetic devices and EMT expenses. The coverages can be utilized in addition to your health insurance policy or if there is no health insurance coverage. It covers you and your occupants as well as any family member struck as a pedestrian. Personal Injury Protection is not available in all states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Coverage for liability – Liability coverage provides protection from damage or injury you incur to a person or their property. This coverage protects you from legal claims by others, and does not provide coverage for your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have values of 100/300/100 that translate to $100,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a total of $300,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a limit of $100,000 paid for damaged property. Alternatively, you may have a combined single limit or CSL that pays claims from the same limit rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability insurance covers things like court costs, medical services, medical expenses, repair bills for other people’s vehicles and legal defense fees. How much liability coverage do you need? That is your choice, but you should buy higher limits if possible.
Comprehensive coverages – Comprehensive insurance coverage pays for damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first must pay your deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims like damage from a tornado or hurricane, a tree branch falling on your vehicle and damage from flooding. The maximum payout your insurance company will pay is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Uninsured and underinsured coverage – Your UM/UIM coverage gives you protection when other motorists do not carry enough liability coverage. It can pay for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Due to the fact that many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, their limits can quickly be used up. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is very important. Usually your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Collision – This pays for damage to your Cabrio from colliding with another car or object. You first must pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage protects against things like rolling your car, damaging your car on a curb, hitting a parking meter, crashing into a ditch and backing into a parked car. This coverage can be expensive, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are older. Another option is to increase the deductible to bring the cost down.
