Trying to find better insurance rates for your Ford F-150 Heritage? Pricey Ford F-150 Heritage insurance can drain your savings account and possibly require you to analyze your spending habits. Comparing rates annually can save money and help to reduce premiums and put more money in your pocket.
People have many insurance companies to choose from, and although it’s nice to have a selection, having more insurance companies makes it harder to find the lowest cost provider.
Finding the cheapest coverage is quite easy. In a nutshell, everyone who carries insurance stands a good chance to be able to find lower rates. But vehicle owners should learn how companies price insurance differently and take advantage of how the system works.
How to get free insurance coverage quotes online
Performing a rate comparison can be challenging if you aren’t aware of the best way to get rate quotes. You can waste hours talking about coverages with insurance companies in your area, or you could save time and use the web to get prices fast.
Most of the larger companies participate in an industry program that allows shoppers to submit one quote, and at least one company can provide price quotes based on that data. This eliminates the need for quote requests for each company you want a rate for.
To use this form to compare rates click to open in new window.
The one disadvantage to doing it this way is you can’t choose which companies to get quotes from. If you would rather choose from a list of companies to compare, we have a page of insurance coverage companies in your area. Click here to view list.
However you get your quotes, do your best to use equivalent coverages and limits on every price quote you get. If you use different coverage information it will be impossible to determine which company has the best rates. Just a small difference in insurance coverages or limits can mean a large discrepancy in price. It’s important to know that comparing more quotes increases the change that you will find a better price.

Tailor your auto insurance coverage to you
When buying coverage for your vehicles, there really is no “perfect” insurance plan. Coverage needs to be tailored to your specific needs so your insurance should reflect that These are some specific questions might point out whether your personal situation would benefit from professional advice.
- Am I missing any policy discounts?
- When should I remove comp and collision on my 2004 Ford F-150 Heritage?
- Why do I only qualify for high-risk insurance?
- Am I insured when driving a different vehicle?
- Do all my vehicles need collision coverage?
- Am I covered if I hit a deer?
If you’re not sure about those questions but one or more may apply to you, you might consider talking to a licensed insurance agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, complete this form or you can go here for a list of companies in your area.
Coverages available on your auto insurance policy
Having a good grasp of your auto insurance policy helps when choosing the best coverages for your vehicles. Policy terminology can be impossible to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy. These are the normal coverages found on most auto insurance policies.
UM/UIM (Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist) coverage
Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle when the “other guys” do not carry enough liability coverage. Covered losses include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as damage to your Ford F-150 Heritage.
Since a lot of drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked. Frequently these limits do not exceed the liability coverage limits.
Coverage for liability
This will cover damage that occurs to other people or property by causing an accident. Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. As an example, you may have limits of 25/50/25 which stand for a limit of $25,000 per injured person, $50,000 for the entire accident, and $25,000 of coverage for damaged propery. Another option is a combined limit which combines the three limits into one amount and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability insurance covers claims like court costs, medical services, funeral expenses and medical expenses. How much coverage you buy is your choice, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as high a limit as you can afford.
Medical payments and PIP coverage
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP pay for short-term medical expenses such as X-ray expenses, dental work, funeral costs and chiropractic care. They are used to fill the gap from your health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. They cover all vehicle occupants as well as being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP is not an option in every state and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Comprehensive auto coverage
This pays for damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You need to pay your deductible first then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims such as damage from flooding, damage from getting keyed, hitting a deer, falling objects and hail damage. The maximum amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
Collision protection
This coverage pays for damage to your F-150 Heritage from colliding with another car or object. You will need to pay your deductible then your collision coverage will kick in.
Collision coverage protects against claims such as colliding with a tree, colliding with another moving vehicle and hitting a parking meter. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Drivers also have the option to bump up the deductible to bring the cost down.
