Looking for cheaper auto insurance rates for your GMC Envoy? I can’t think of a single person who likes having to buy auto insurance, especially when the cost is too high. Numerous auto insurance companies battle for your insurance dollar, and it can be difficult to compare rates to find the absolute lowest rate
If you have a policy now or are looking for a new policy, you can learn to get lower rates while maintaining coverages. Finding affordable coverage is not rocket science. Vehicle owners just need to know how to get comparison rates online.
Low cost insurance prices
There are multiple methods you can shop for insurance but there is one way that is more efficient than others. You can waste a lot of time talking to insurance agencies in your area, or you could use online quotes for quick rates.
Many companies participate in a marketplace that allows shoppers to enter their coverage request one time, and each company provides a quote. This eliminates the need for repetitive form submissions to each individual insurance company.
To compare rates using this form now click to open in new window.
The only downside to comparing rates this way is buyers cannot specifically choose which companies to get pricing from. If you prefer to choose specific insurance companies to compare, we have a listing of companies who write insurance in your area. View list of insurance companies.
However you get your quotes, be certain you are entering identical deductibles and coverage limits with each company. If you have different coverage information you will not be able to make a fair rate comparison.

Discounts for cheaper insurance coverage rates
Car insurance companies do not advertise all possible discounts in an easy-to-find place, so the list below contains a few of the more well known and the more hidden discounts that you may qualify for.
- Full Payment Discount – If you pay your entire premium ahead of time instead of paying each month you can actually save on your bill.
- Claim Free – Claim-free drivers are rewarded with significantly better rates on insurance coverage quote compared to drivers with a long claim history.
- Anti-theft Discount – Anti-theft and alarm system equipped vehicles help deter theft and qualify for as much as a 10% discount.
- Anti-lock Brake Discount – Cars and trucks that have anti-lock braking systems are much safer to drive so companies give up to a 10% discount.
- Distant College Student Discount – Any of your kids who attend college more than 100 miles from home and don’t have a car can be insured at a reduced rate.
- Defensive Driving Course – Participating in a course teaching driver safety skills could cut 5% off your bill and easily pay for the cost of the class.
Keep in mind that many deductions do not apply the the whole policy. Most only reduce specific coverage prices like comprehensive or collision. Even though it appears you would end up receiving a 100% discount, companies don’t profit that way. Any amount of discount should help lower the cost of coverage.
Larger insurance coverage companies and some of the discounts are shown below.
- Esurance has savings for Pac-12 alumni, safety device, anti-lock brakes, online quote, multi-policy, Switch & Save, and renters.
- The Hartford offers discounts for bundle, anti-theft, vehicle fuel type, air bag, driver training, good student, and defensive driver.
- AAA may have discounts that include anti-theft, pay-in-full, multi-car, good student, AAA membership discount, and multi-policy.
- Geico offers discounts including multi-policy, anti-theft, seat belt use, federal employee, and anti-lock brakes.
- State Farm offers premium reductions for student away at school, defensive driving training, multiple autos, safe vehicle, passive restraint, and Drive Safe & Save.
It’s a good idea to ask all companies you are considering which discounts you qualify for. A few discounts might not apply in every state. To locate insurance companies offering insurance coverage discounts, click this link.
You may need specialized auto insurance coverage
When buying adequate coverage for your vehicles, there really is not a single plan that fits everyone. Every situation is different and a cookie cutter policy won’t apply. These are some specific questions can aid in determining whether your personal situation will benefit from professional help.
- Am I covered by my employer’s commercial auto policy when driving my personal car for business?
- Is my ex-spouse still covered by my policy?
- Is a new car covered when I drive it off the dealer lot?
- Does my car insurance cover rental cars?
- Do I need an umbrella policy?
- When should I drop full coverage on my 2007 GMC Envoy?
- Am I covered if I hit my neighbor’s mailbox?
- Am I covered when driving in Canada or Mexico?
- What if I don’t agree with a claim settlement offer?
- Do I benefit by insuring my home with the same company?
If you can’t answer these questions, you may need to chat with an agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, fill out this quick form or click here for a list of auto insurance companies in your area. It only takes a few minutes and can help protect your family.
The coverage is in the details
Having a good grasp of your policy can help you determine the right coverages for your vehicles. The coverage terms in a policy can be difficult to understand and coverage can change by endorsement. These are typical coverages found on most insurance policies.
Coverage for collisions
Collision insurance will pay to fix damage to your Envoy resulting from a collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You will need to pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision can pay for things like driving through your garage door, colliding with a tree, damaging your car on a curb and hitting a mailbox. This coverage can be expensive, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from vehicles that are older. Drivers also have the option to increase the deductible to bring the cost down.
Liability car insurance
Liability insurance protects you from damages or injuries you inflict on people or other property by causing an accident. This insurance protects YOU from claims by other people, and does not provide coverage for your injuries or vehicle damage.
Coverage consists of three different limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. Your policy might show values of 25/50/25 that means you have $25,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $50,000, and a total limit of $25,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Occasionally you may see a combined single limit or CSL which provides one coverage limit and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability coverage protects against things such as structural damage, medical services, attorney fees and pain and suffering. How much coverage you buy is a personal decision, but buy as large an amount as possible.
Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance
Your UM/UIM coverage gives you protection when other motorists do not carry enough liability coverage. It can pay for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, their liability coverage can quickly be exhausted. So UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Most of the time the UM/UIM limits are set the same as your liablity limits.
Insurance for medical payments
Med pay and PIP coverage kick in for short-term medical expenses for things like chiropractic care, surgery, EMT expenses and rehabilitation expenses. They are used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance plan or if you do not have health coverage. They cover you and your occupants in addition to if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP is not available in all states and may carry a deductible
Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision)
This coverage will pay to fix damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. You need to pay your deductible first then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive coverage pays for things like hitting a bird, damage from flooding and hitting a deer. The maximum amount a insurance company will pay at claim time is the actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
