Finding cheaper Driversauto insurance may be frustrating for beginners to comparison shopping online. Consumers have so many different companies and agents to choose from that it can be a big hassle to compare rates.
The most recommended method to compare policy rates utilizes the fact almost all companies will pay a fee to give rate comparisons. To start a quote, the only thing you need to do is take a few minutes to give details including how your vehicles are used, any included safety features, if the vehicle is leased, and whether or not you need a SR-22. That rating data gets transmitted to multiple companies and they return cost estimate immediately.

Lower-cost car insurance quotes with discounts
Insurance can be prohibitively expensive, but there could be available discounts that could drop your premiums quite a bit. Some discounts apply automatically when you quote, but a few must be asked for before you will receive the discount.
- ABS and Traction Control Discounts – Anti-lock brake equipped vehicles can reduce accidents and therefore earn up to a 10% discount.
- Multiple Vehicles – Purchasing coverage when you have more than one vehicle on a single policy may reduce the rate for each vehicle.
- Use Seat Belts – Drivers who require all occupants to buckle their seat belts can save up to 10 percent (depending on the company) on medical payment and PIP coverage.
- Student in College – Kids who attend college more than 100 miles from home without a vehicle on campus could qualify for this discount.
- New Vehicle Savings – Buying a new car instead of a used car can be considerably cheaper compared to insuring an older model.
- Own a Home and Save – Owning your own home or condo may earn you a small savings because of the fact that having a home is proof that your finances are in order.
- Driver’s Ed – Make teen driver coverage more affordable by requiring them to take driver’s ed class in high school.
- Professional Organizations – Having an affiliation with specific professional or occupational memberships or organizations is a good way to get lower rates on your next car insurance statement.
- Paperwork-free – Many companies will give a small break shop insurance coverage on your computer.
Just know that some of the credits will not apply to the overall cost of the policy. Most only reduce the price of certain insurance coverages like liability, collision or medical payments. Just because it seems like it’s possible to get free car insurance, it doesn’t quite work that way.
Larger car insurance companies and their offered discounts are outlined below.
- Geico offers premium reductions for military active duty, multi-policy, membership and employees, multi-vehicle, and daytime running lights.
- SAFECO offers discounts for drive less, anti-theft, accident prevention training, homeowner, bundle discounts, and anti-lock brakes.
- State Farm policyholders can earn discounts including multiple autos, good student, student away at school, safe vehicle, anti-theft, Drive Safe & Save, and accident-free.
- MetLife may have discounts that include good student, good driver, multi-policy, claim-free, and accident-free.
- 21st Century has discounts for teen driver, student driver, defensive driver, theft prevention, homeowners, good student, and air bags.
- Progressive may offer discounts for online signing, multi-vehicle, good student, multi-policy, online quote discount, and continuous coverage.

Tailor your car insurance coverage to you
When buying coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is no “best” method to buy coverage. Everyone’s needs are different.
For example, these questions can help discover whether your personal situation would benefit from an agent’s advice.
- Is my ex-spouse still covered by my policy?
- Does my 2007 Porsche 911 qualify for pleasure use?
- Am I covered if I break a side mirror?
- Do I need special endorsements for business use of my vehicle?
- What is high-risk coverage and where do I buy it?
- Is my state a no-fault state?
If it’s difficult to answer those questions, you may need to chat with a licensed insurance agent. If you don’t have a local agent, simply complete this short form.
Car insurance 101
Understanding the coverages of your policy can help you determine the right coverages for your vehicles. Insurance terms can be confusing and reading a policy is terribly boring.
Liability – This will cover damage that occurs to a person or their property. This insurance protects YOU from claims by other people, and doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Coverage consists of three different limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You might see liability limits of 50/100/50 that means you have $50,000 bodily injury coverage, a limit of $100,000 in injury protection per accident, and $50,000 of coverage for damaged propery. Occasionally you may see a combined single limit or CSL which provides one coverage limit and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability coverage protects against claims like funeral expenses, court costs and legal defense fees. How much liability should you purchase? That is up to you, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as high a limit as you can afford.
Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) – Med pay and PIP coverage pay for immediate expenses for rehabilitation expenses, chiropractic care, doctor visits and prosthetic devices. They are often used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if there is no health insurance coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover you and your occupants in addition to getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP coverage is not available in all states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) – Your UM/UIM coverage protects you and your vehicle when other motorists either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered claims include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as damage to your 2007 Porsche 911.
Because many people carry very low liability coverage limits, their limits can quickly be used up. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is important protection for you and your family. Most of the time your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages do not exceed the liability coverage limits.
Collision coverage – This coverage pays for damage to your 911 resulting from a collision with an object or car. A deductible applies then your collision coverage will kick in.
Collision coverage protects against claims such as backing into a parked car, damaging your car on a curb and hitting a mailbox. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so you might think about dropping it from older vehicles. Drivers also have the option to choose a higher deductible to save money on collision insurance.
Comprehensive insurance – Comprehensive insurance covers damage from a wide range of events other than collision. You first have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive coverage protects against things such as theft, damage from a tornado or hurricane and a broken windshield. The maximum amount you’ll receive from a claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle’s value is low consider dropping full coverage.
One last thing
As you go through the steps to switch your coverage, it’s very important that you do not sacrifice coverage to reduce premiums. In too many instances, someone dropped liability coverage limits only to regret at claim time that a couple dollars of savings turned into a financial nightmare. Your focus should be to find the BEST coverage at a price you can afford.
People who switch companies do it for a number of reasons such as high rates after DUI convictions, poor customer service, lack of trust in their agent or delays in responding to claim requests. Regardless of your reason, choosing a new company is actually quite simple.
Throughout this article, we presented some good ideas how you can get a better price on 2007 Porsche 911 insurance. The key concept to understand is the more quotes you get, the higher your chance of finding cheaper insurance coverage. Consumers could even find that the lowest priced insurance coverage comes from an unexpected company.
