Looking for cheaper auto insurance rates for your Porsche 911? If shopping for insurance coverage quotes online is new to you, you can easily be baffled by the confusing number of local and online companies offering insurance.
It’s important to compare premium rates at least once a year because insurance prices change frequently. Even if you got the best deal on 911 insurance six months ago you can probably find a better rate quote now. There is a lot of wrong information about auto insurance out there, but in just a couple of minutes you can learn a bunch of ideas how to find cheap auto insurance.
Ways to get insurance quotes
There are multiple methods to compare insurance prices but some are easier and takes less work. You can waste hours driving to insurance agencies in your area, or you could use the internet to accomplish the same thing much quicker.
Many companies are enrolled in a marketplace that allows shoppers to enter their coverage request one time, and every company provides a quote determined by their information. This system prevents you from having to do quote forms for every insurance company.
To submit your quote information now, click to open in new window.
The one downside to comparing rates this way is that consumers can’t choose which carriers you want to price. So if you want to select specific providers to request quotes from, we have a listing of low cost insurance companies in your area. Click here to view list.
Take whichever approach you prefer, but do your best to use the exact same quote information on every quote you get. If you are comparing different values for each quote it’s not possible to make a fair rate comparison. Slightly different coverage limits can mean a large discrepancy in price. And when comparison shopping, comparing a wide range of rates gives you a better chance of getting the best offered rates. Not every company provides rate quotes online, so you also need to get prices from the smaller companies as well.

Are you getting every discount?
Properly insuring your vehicles can get expensive, but there’s a good chance there are discounts that you may not even know about. Many of these discounts will be applied automatically when you complete an application, but lesser-known reductions have to be asked for prior to receiving the credit. If they aren’t giving you every credit you qualify for, you’re just leaving money on the table.
- Payment Discounts – By paying your policy upfront instead of monthly or quarterly installments you could save 5% or more.
- Senior Citizens – Mature drivers could receive reduced rates on 911 insurance.
- Air Bags and Passive Restraints – Vehicles with factory air bags may get savings of 25 to 30%.
- Low Miles Discount – Maintaining low annual mileage could earn better premium rates on cars that stay parked.
- No Claim Discounts – Good drivers with no accidents can save substantially as opposed to accident-prone drivers.
- Military Deployment Discount – Being deployed with a military unit could qualify you for better rates.
While discounts sound great, it’s important to understand that most discounts do not apply the the whole policy. Most cut the price of certain insurance coverages like liability and collision coverage. So when the math indicates having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, you won’t be that lucky.
Larger car insurance companies and their offered discounts are shown below.
- American Family policyholders can earn discounts including defensive driver, TimeAway discount, bundled insurance, Steer into Savings, and early bird.
- Nationwide has savings for anti-theft, good student, Farm Bureau membership, business or organization, defensive driving, multi-policy, and family plan.
- MetLife offers discounts for good driver, claim-free, accident-free, good student, and defensive driver.
- 21st Century may have discounts that include air bags, early bird, theft prevention, automatic seat belts, homeowners, and driver training.
- Farmers Insurance includes discounts for good student, early shopping, alternative fuel, mature driver, and business and professional.
- Allstate has discounts for anti-theft, passive restraint, teenSMART discount, defensive driver, and resident student.
Before buying, ask all companies you are considering the best way to save money. Some discounts listed above might not be available to policyholders in your area. For a list of insurance companies with discount rates, click this link.
When in doubt talk to an agent
When it comes to choosing coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is not a single plan that fits everyone. Everyone’s situation is unique.
For example, these questions may help highlight whether you might need professional guidance.
- How do I insure my teen driver?
- Exactly who is provided coverage by my policy?
- What is no-fault insurance?
- Am I covered when pulling a rental trailer?
- When can my company non-renew my policy?
- Am I covered when renting a car or should I buy coverage from the car rental agency?
- Am I covered if I hit a deer?
- Why am I required to get a high-risk car insurance policy?
If you’re not sure about those questions, you may need to chat with an insurance agent. If you don’t have a local agent, fill out this quick form.
Auto insurance coverage breakdown
Learning about specific coverages of your policy can help you determine appropriate coverage for your vehicles. The terms used in a policy can be confusing and coverage can change by endorsement.
UM/UIM Coverage
This coverage provides protection when other motorists either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. It can pay for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and also any damage incurred to your Porsche 911.
Because many people carry very low liability coverage limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage is very important. Most of the time these coverages do not exceed the liability coverage limits.
Comprehensive or Other Than Collision
Comprehensive insurance coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first must pay your deductible then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive coverage protects against things like hitting a deer, vandalism, damage from flooding and a tree branch falling on your vehicle. The most you’ll receive from a claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Collision coverage
Collision coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage resulting from colliding with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You first must pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision insurance covers claims like crashing into a ditch, colliding with a tree and scraping a guard rail. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so consider dropping it from older vehicles. Drivers also have the option to increase the deductible to bring the cost down.
Liability
This coverage provides protection from damages or injuries you inflict on other’s property or people in an accident. It protects you from legal claims by others, and does not provide coverage for your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. Your policy might show liability limits of 50/100/50 which means a $50,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $100,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property. Alternatively, you may have a combined limit which limits claims to one amount rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability coverage pays for claims such as medical expenses, attorney fees, legal defense fees, loss of income and structural damage. How much liability should you purchase? That is a personal decision, but consider buying as large an amount as possible.
Medical costs insurance
Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance provide coverage for expenses like funeral costs, rehabilitation expenses, surgery and EMT expenses. The coverages can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if there is no health insurance coverage. They cover all vehicle occupants and will also cover if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal Injury Protection is not an option in every state and may carry a deductible
