Paying for expensive Audi A8 insurance can diminish your savings account and put a big crunch on your finances. Price shopping at each renewal can lower your rates and help to tighten up your finances.
Many car insurance companies vie for your business, so it’s not easy to compare every insurer and get the definite best rate
It’s a great practice to compare prices before your next renewal because insurance prices are adjusted regularly by insurance companies. Just because you had the best rate on A8 insurance two years ago a different company probably has better premium rates today. Forget anything you know (or think you know) about auto insurance because we’re going to demonstrate how to use the internet to buy cheaper auto insurance.
If you have insurance now or are looking for a new policy, you can follow these tips to get lower rates while maintaining coverages. Buying car insurance is easy if you know what you’re doing. Vehicle owners just need to learn the proper way to shop for insurance coverage online.
Insurance coverage policy discounts you can’t miss
Companies don’t list every disount available in a way that’s easy to find, so the following is a list of a few of the more common and also the lesser-known discounts that you can inquire about if you buy auto insurance online.
- Multi-policy Discount – If you insure your home and vehicles and insure them with the same company they may give you a discount of over 10 percent off each policy depending on the company.
- Cautious Driver Discounts – Insureds who avoid accidents may save up to 50% more on A8 insurance compared to rates paid by drivers with frequent claims.
- Anti-lock Brakes – Cars, trucks, and SUVs that have anti-lock braking systems have fewer accidents and therefore earn up to a 10% discount.
- Anti-theft System – Vehicles that have factory alarm systems and tracking devices are stolen less frequently and qualify for as much as a 10% discount.
- No Claims – Insureds who avoid accidents and claims get the best insurance coverage rates as opposed to drivers with a long claim history.
It’s important to note that most of the big mark downs will not be given to the entire cost. Some only apply to the price of certain insurance coverages like collision or personal injury protection. Even though the math looks like you would end up receiving a 100% discount, companies don’t profit that way.

Which insurance coverage is cheapest?
Finding cheaper insurance coverage rates is surprisingly easy. Consumers just need to invest a few minutes comparing rate quotes to find. Shoppers can get rates using a couple different methods.
If you don’t have a lot of time, the easiest way to get quotes is an all-inclusive rate comparison click to view form in new window. This type of form eliminates the need for repetitive form entry for each company. A single, simple form will return quotes from many national carriers.
A more difficult way to analyze rates requires a trip to each company’s website and go through the quote process again. For examples sake, we’ll pretend you want to compare prices for Geico, Esurance and Allstate. In order to compare rates, you need to navigate to each company’s site and enter your policy data, which is why the first method is more popular. To view a list of companies in your area, click here.
The old school method to get price estimates is to spend your day driving to and from local insurance agencies. Comparing rate quotes online has reduced the need for local agents unless you’re the type of person who wants the trained guidance only provided by licensed agents. You can, however, obtain prices from the web and still use a local agent.
You can choose any of those ways to find more affodable coverage, but double check that you are using the exact same coverages and limits on every price quote you get. If each company quotes higher or lower deductibles you can’t possibly decipher which rate is best.
Insurance agents can help
When it comes to buying adequate coverage, there is no one size fits all plan. Every insured’s situation is different so your insurance should reflect that Here are some questions about coverages that can help discover if you could use an agent’s help.
- If my pet gets injured in an accident are they covered?
- Does my policy cover me when driving someone else’s vehicle?
- Are my tools covered if they get stolen from my vehicle?
- Does liability extend to a camper or trailer?
- Do I need replacement cost coverage on my 2010 Audi A8?
- Does my personal policy cover me when driving out-of-state?
- When should I buy a commercial auto policy?
If you can’t answer these questions but you know they apply to you, you might consider talking to a licensed insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form or you can go here for a list of companies in your area. It is quick, free and may give you better protection.
Insurance coverages and their meanings
Understanding the coverages of your policy helps when choosing appropriate coverage at the best deductibles and correct limits. Insurance terms can be confusing and coverage can change by endorsement. Shown next are the normal coverages found on most insurance policies.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) – Your UM/UIM coverage protects you and your vehicle from other drivers when they either have no liability insurance or not enough. This coverage pays for injuries to you and your family and also any damage incurred to your 2010 Audi A8.
Because many people carry very low liability coverage limits, their limits can quickly be used up. So UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Normally these limits are set the same as your liablity limits.
Liability auto insurance – This will cover damages or injuries you inflict on a person or their property that is your fault. This insurance protects YOU against other people’s claims, and does not provide coverage for damage to your own property or vehicle.
It consists of three limits, bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. You might see policy limits of 25/50/25 that translate to a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $50,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and a total limit of $25,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Occasionally you may see one number which is a combined single limit which combines the three limits into one amount rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability insurance covers things like court costs, repair bills for other people’s vehicles and structural damage. How much liability coverage do you need? That is your choice, but consider buying as much as you can afford.
Comprehensive insurance – This coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. A deductible will apply then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage protects against things like damage from flooding, damage from getting keyed, hitting a deer, falling objects and vandalism. The maximum payout you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP provide coverage for expenses for things like hospital visits, EMT expenses and X-ray expenses. They can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance plan or if you are not covered by health insurance. They cover you and your occupants and will also cover getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP is only offered in select states and may carry a deductible
Collision coverage – This will pay to fix damage to your A8 caused by collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You have to pay a deductible then your collision coverage will kick in.
Collision coverage pays for things like sustaining damage from a pot hole, colliding with a tree, damaging your car on a curb, crashing into a building and crashing into a ditch. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from lower value vehicles. Another option is to bump up the deductible to bring the cost down.

Affordable insurance is out there
Cheaper insurance can be sourced on the web and also from your neighborhood agents, so you should be comparing quotes from both to get a complete price analysis. Some insurance providers may not offer internet price quotes and usually these smaller providers sell through independent agents.
When you buy auto insurance online, it’s very important that you do not buy lower coverage limits just to save a few bucks. There are too many instances where an insured cut physical damage coverage and learned later they didn’t have enough coverage. Your goal is to buy enough coverage at a price you can afford.
