Finding low-cost insurance for a Mercedes-Benz C-Class can be a painful process, but you can follow a few tricks to make it easier. There is a right way and a wrong way to shop for car insurance and we’ll show you the quickest way to compare rates for a new or used Mercedes-Benz and get the cheapest rates.
You need to compare rates on a regular basis since insurance prices are variable and change quite frequently. Even if you think you had the best rate for C-Class coverage six months ago there is a good chance you can find better premium rates now. Forget anything you know (or think you know) about car insurance because we’re going to demonstrate one of the quickest ways to eliminate unnecessary coverages and save money.
If you have a policy now or are just looking to switch companies, you can use these tips to cut your premiums while maximizing coverage. Finding the lowest cost car insurance coverage is simple if you know the tricks. Drivers just need to learn the tricks to compare rates on the web.
Ways to get car insurance quotes
Shopping for lower car insurance rates can be a lot of work if you don’t know the best way to get rate quotes. You can waste a lot of time discussing policy coverages with agents in your area, or you could use online quotes for quick rates.
Many popular insurance companies enroll in a system that enables customers to submit one quote, and every company can provide price quotes based on that data. This system prevents you from having to do quote requests for each company. To compare pricing click here to open in new window.
The only downside to using this type of form is you can’t choose which insurance companies you will receive quotes from. If you would rather choose individual companies to compare rates, we have a listing of low cost car insurance companies in your area. View list of insurance companies.
However you get your quotes, make sure you compare the same coverage limits and deductibles on every quote you get. If you enter different coverage information it will be nearly impossible to determine which company has the best rates.

Are you receiving every discount?
Auto insurance companies don’t list every policy discount very clearly, so we break down both the well known and the more hidden credits that may apply to you.
- Federal Government Employee – Federal government employees may reduce rates when you quote insurance for C-Class coverage with select insurance companies.
- Discounts for Seat Belt Usage – Drivers who require all vehicle occupants to use a seat belt could cut 10% or more off PIP or medical payments premium.
- College Student – Children who are enrolled in a college that is more than 100 miles from home and do not have a car may qualify for this discount.
- Accident-Free Discounts – Good drivers with no accidents can earn big discounts as compared to policyholders that have many claims.
- Onboard Data Collection – Policyholders that allow driving data submission to analyze driving habits remotely like Drivewise from Allstate or In-Drive from State Farm could see a rate decrease if they are good drivers.
- Lower Rates for Military – Being on active deployment in the military could be rewarded with lower rates.
Remember that some credits don’t apply to all coverage premiums. Some only reduce individual premiums such as liability and collision coverage. If you do the math and it seems like you could get a free insurance coverage policy, nobody gets a free ride. Any amount of discount will reduce your policy premium.

When in doubt talk to an agent
When buying the right insurance coverage, there is no “perfect” insurance plan. Each situation is unique.
For instance, these questions could help you determine whether you will benefit from professional help.
- Am I covered when using my vehicle for business?
- Do I pay less if my vehicle is kept in my garage?
- Does my 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class need full coverage?
- When should I not file a claim?
- Am I getting all the discounts available?
- How can I force my company to pay a claim?
- Does having multiple vehicles earn me a discount?
- Is a fancy paint job covered?
If it’s difficult to answer those questions, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed agent. If you don’t have a local agent, complete this form. It is quick, free and you can get the answers you need.
Auto insurance policy coverages for a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Learning about specific coverages of your policy helps when choosing the right coverages for your vehicles. Auto insurance terms can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
Auto liability – This provides protection from damage that occurs to people or other property by causing an accident. This coverage protects you from claims by other people. It does not cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Liability coverage has three limits: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. Your policy might show liability limits of 25/50/25 that translate to $25,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, $50,000 for the entire accident, and a total limit of $25,000 for damage to vehicles and property.
Liability coverage protects against things like bail bonds, legal defense fees and pain and suffering. How much liability should you purchase? That is a personal decision, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as large an amount as possible.
Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision) – Comprehensive insurance will pay to fix damage caused by mother nature, theft, vandalism and other events. A deductible will apply then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive coverage pays for claims such as hail damage, vandalism and damage from flooding. The most you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
Insurance for medical payments – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP reimburse you for short-term medical expenses such as chiropractic care, hospital visits, funeral costs, rehabilitation expenses and ambulance fees. They are often utilized in addition to your health insurance policy or if you lack health insurance entirely. It covers all vehicle occupants in addition to if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal Injury Protection is not universally available but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance – Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage provides protection when other motorists do not carry enough liability coverage. This coverage pays for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Because many people only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, their liability coverage can quickly be exhausted. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is important protection for you and your family.
Collision coverage – This pays for damage to your C-Class from colliding with an object or car. You have to pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision insurance covers claims like sideswiping another vehicle, rolling your car, scraping a guard rail, crashing into a ditch and sustaining damage from a pot hole. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are older. Another option is to increase the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Be Smart and Buy Smart
When getting insurance quotes online, never buy less coverage just to save a little money. There are too many instances where drivers have reduced liability limits or collision coverage only to regret that their decision to reduce coverage ended up costing them more. The goal is to buy a smart amount of coverage at the lowest possible cost while still protecting your assets.
In this article, we covered many ways to get a better price on 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class insurance. The most important thing to understand is the more companies you get prices for, the better likelihood of getting cheaper insurance. You may even find the lowest priced car insurance comes from some of the lesser-known companies.
Drivers change insurance companies for any number of reasons including policy non-renewal, being labeled a high risk driver, an unsatisfactory settlement offer or even lack of trust in their agent. It doesn’t matter why you want to switch switching car insurance companies is easier than you think.
