Want cheaper car insurance rates? Drivers have options when trying to find low-cost BMW 1 Series insurance. They can either waste time struggling with agents getting price quotes or leverage the internet to get rate quotes. There is a right way and a wrong way to buy car insurance and you need to know the best way to quote coverages for a BMW and get the best price possible.
Finding affordable coverage is not rocket science. If you have car insurance now, you will most likely be able to save some money using these techniques. Vehicle owners only need to know how to shop for auto insurance over the internet.
Cheapest auto insurance quotes
There are several ways to compare auto insurance quotes, but some are more efficient than others. You can waste hours driving to local insurance agents in your area, or you can stay home and use the internet to maximize your effort.
All the larger companies enroll in a system that allows shoppers to submit their information once, and every company then gives them pricing for coverage. This prevents consumers from doing quotation requests for each company.

The one downside to comparing rates this way is that consumers can’t choose which insurance companies to get pricing from. If you prefer to choose specific providers to compare prices, we have a page of auto insurance companies in your area. Click here to view list.
How you compare quotes is your choice, just make absolute certain that you use equivalent information for every quote you compare. If each company quotes different limits and deductibles on each one you will not be able to determine which company has the best rates.

It’s not one size fits all
When it comes to buying the best auto insurance coverage, there isn’t really a perfect coverage plan. Every situation is different.
Here are some questions about coverages that can help discover if you would benefit from an agent’s advice.
- What is the difference between comprehensive and collision coverage?
- Do I need special endorsements for business use of my vehicle?
- What vehicles should carry emergency assistance coverage?
- Should I carry comprehensive and collision coverage?
- I have good health insurance, so how much medical payments coverage do I need?
- Is my trailer covered?
- Do I need replacement cost coverage on my 2011 BMW 1 Series?
- Does coverage extend to a rental car in a foreign country?
If you’re not sure about those questions, you may need to chat with a licensed agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, complete this form. It only takes a few minutes and may give you better protection.
Coverages available on your policy
Learning about specific coverages of insurance aids in choosing appropriate coverage for your vehicles. The coverage terms in a policy can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
Medical expense insurance
Med pay and PIP coverage kick in for short-term medical expenses such as dental work, surgery, hospital visits, X-ray expenses and prosthetic devices. They are utilized in addition to your health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. Coverage applies to both the driver and occupants as well as if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP coverage is not an option in every state but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Collision coverage protection
Collision coverage pays for damage to your 1 Series resulting from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You will need to pay your deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision can pay for things like damaging your car on a curb, hitting a mailbox and sustaining damage from a pot hole. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are older. Drivers also have the option to bump up the deductible to save money on collision insurance.
Comprehensive (Other than Collision)
Comprehensive insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first must pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive coverage protects against things like fire damage, a tree branch falling on your vehicle and falling objects. The maximum payout you’ll receive from a claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Liability auto insurance
This provides protection from injuries or damage you cause to a person or their property. This insurance protects YOU against claims from other people, and doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. As an example, you may have policy limits of 50/100/50 that translate to $50,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a limit of $100,000 in injury protection per accident, and property damage coverage for $50,000.
Liability can pay for claims such as repair bills for other people’s vehicles, loss of income and repair costs for stationary objects. How much coverage you buy is a decision to put some thought into, but buy as high a limit as you can afford.
Protection from uninsured/underinsured drivers
This provides protection when other motorists are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered claims include hospital bills for your injuries and damage to your BMW 1 Series.
Since many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, their limits can quickly be used up. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is a good idea.
