Finding cheaper insurance quotes online can be difficult if you are one of the many people new to quoting online. But keep reading because we’re going to show you how.
Affordable insurance coverage rates with discounts
Companies offering auto insurance don’t necessarily list every policy discount in a way that’s easy to find, so we took the time to find a few of the more common and the harder-to-find discounts that you may qualify for.
- Senior Citizens – Seniors may be able to get better insurance coverage rates for 6 coverage.
- Multiple Policy Discount – When you have multiple policies with one company they may give you a discount of nearly 15% which can help you find the cheapest insurance.
- Club Memberships – Belonging to certain professional organizations could qualify you for a break on your policy.
- Federal Government Employee – Active or retired federal employment can earn a discount up to 10% for 6 coverage with certain companies.
- Buy New and Save – Insuring a vehicle that is new can be considerably cheaper compared to insuring an older model.
- Discount for Swiching Early – A few insurance coverage companies allow discounts for buying a policy prior to your current policy expiring. It can save you around 10%.
- First Accident Forgiveness – Not a discount per se, but some insurance companies will let one accident slide before your rates go up if you have no claims for a certain period of time.
- Responsible Drivers – Drivers without accidents can save up to 40% or more on their insurance quote for 6 coverage than their less cautious counterparts.
As a sidenote, most discount credits are not given to all coverage premiums. Most only apply to the price of certain insurance coverages like medical payments or collision. Even though the math looks like you would end up receiving a 100% discount, you aren’t that lucky.
Some of the larger companies that possibly offer most of the discounts above possibly include:
- Geico
- Mercury Insurance
- Farmers Insurance
- Auto-Owners Insurance
- Liberty Mutual
- SAFECO
- Progressive
- USAA
Before buying, ask all companies you are considering how you can save money. Some discounts listed above might not be available to policyholders in every state. To see a list of insurance companies that offer the discounts shown above, follow this link.

Cheapest car insurance quotes
When shopping for affordable insurance quotes, there are a couple of ways of comparing rate quotes from many different insurance companies. The quickest method to find cheaper 2011 Mazda 6 rates is simply to get online rate quotes. This is very easy and can be done in a couple of different ways.
- Probably the best way to compare a lot of rates at once is to use a rate comparison form click here to open form in new window. This form prevents you from having to do a different quote for every car insurance company. A single, simple form will return quotes from several companies. This is perfect if you don’t have a lot of time.
- A different way to compare rate quotes is to manually visit the website of each company and repeat the quote process again and again. For example, let’s assume you want to get rates from Liberty Mutual, Safeco and Travelers. To get rate quotes you would need to go to every website to enter your coverage information, which can get old fast. For a list of companies in your area, click here.
- The most time-consuming way to find lower rates is calling or driving to insurance agents’ offices. Comparing online rate quotes has made agencies unnecessary unless you want the professional guidance that can only be provided by a licensed insurance agent. Some companies do allow you to find lower rates online but have your policy serviced through an agent.
The approach you take is up to you, just double check that you are using the exact same coverage data for each price quote. If you have different liability limits then you won’t be able to find the best deal for your Mazda 6. Having just a slight variation in insurance coverages can mean a large discrepancy in price. And when comparison shopping, comparing more company’s prices helps improve the odds of finding the best rates.
Tailor your auto insurance coverage to you
When it comes to choosing coverage for your personal vehicles, there isn’t really a perfect coverage plan. Every situation is different.
For example, these questions may help highlight whether your personal situation would benefit from an agent’s advice.
- Do I really need UM/UIM coverage?
- Are rental cars covered under my policy?
- Is my custom paint covered by insurance?
- What vehicles should carry emergency assistance coverage?
- Are all vehicle passengers covered by medical payments coverage?
- When should I buy a commercial auto policy?
- Why am I required to get a high-risk car insurance policy?
If you can’t answer these questions then you might want to talk to an agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, take a second and complete this form.
Auto insurance coverage information
Learning about specific coverages of your car insurance policy can be of help when determining appropriate coverage at the best deductibles and correct limits. Policy terminology can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
UM/UIM Coverage – This coverage provides protection when other motorists either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Since many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is very important. Normally the UM/UIM limits are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Collision coverages – Collision insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage resulting from a collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You will need to pay your deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision insurance covers claims like colliding with a tree, driving through your garage door and sideswiping another vehicle. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider dropping it from lower value vehicles. You can also bump up the deductible to bring the cost down.
Coverage for liability – Liability coverage can cover damage or injury you incur to a person or their property by causing an accident. This insurance protects YOU against claims from other people. It does not cover damage to your own property or vehicle.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have policy limits of 25/50/25 which means $25,000 bodily injury coverage, a per accident bodily injury limit of $50,000, and property damage coverage for $25,000. Another option is one number which is a combined single limit that pays claims from the same limit rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability can pay for claims such as repair costs for stationary objects, emergency aid, medical expenses and attorney fees. How much coverage you buy is a decision to put some thought into, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
Comprehensive or Other Than Collision – Comprehensive insurance pays for damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first have to pay a deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for things such as damage from getting keyed, hitting a deer, a tree branch falling on your vehicle and hitting a bird. The maximum payout a car insurance company will pay at claim time is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Medical costs insurance – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP provide coverage for bills such as pain medications, rehabilitation expenses, doctor visits, surgery and dental work. They are often used in conjunction with a health insurance plan or if you lack health insurance entirely. It covers both the driver and occupants and also covers being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal Injury Protection is only offered in select states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay

Saving money is sweet as honey
As you quote insurance, you should never buy lower coverage limits just to save a few bucks. In many instances, an accident victim reduced uninsured motorist or liability limits only to regret that the few dollars in savings costed them thousands. The aim is to buy a smart amount of coverage for the lowest price, not the least amount of coverage.
Some insurance providers do not provide online rate quotes and usually these small insurance companies only sell through independent agents. Budget-conscious 2011 Mazda 6 insurance is possible from both online companies as well as from insurance agents, so you need to compare both to have the best rate selection.
Consumers who switch companies do it for a variety of reasons including questionable increases in premium, poor customer service, high prices and even denial of a claim. Regardless of your reason for switching companies, finding the right auto insurance provider is pretty simple and you could end up saving a buck or two.
