Paying cheaper premium rates for Driversauto insurance could be quite difficult for people new to online price comparisons. With dozens of insurers available, it can easily turn into a lot of work to find the lowest price.
Discounts for cheap insurance coverage quotes
Some insurance providers don’t always list the entire discount list very clearly, so the below list has both the well known as well as some of the hidden discounts that you can inquire about if you buy car insurance online.
- Drive Safe and Save – Drivers who avoid accidents may receive a discount up to 45% for S60 insurance compared to accident prone drivers.
- No Claim Discounts – Insureds with no claims or accidents can earn big discounts when compared with bad drivers.
- Telematics Data – Drivers that enable their insurance company to track when and where they use their vehicle by using a telematics device such as Progressive’s Snapshot and State Farm’s In-Drive could possibly reduce rates if they show good driving skills.
- First Accident Forgiveness – Not a discount per se, but a handful of insurance companies will allow you to have one accident without raising rates as long as you don’t have any claims for a particular time prior to the accident.
- Distant Student – Kids who attend college more than 100 miles from home and don’t have a car could qualify for this discount.
- Seat Belt Usage – Requiring all passengers to use their safety belts can save up to 10 percent (depending on the company) on the medical payments or PIP coverage costs.
- Renewal Discounts – A few insurance companies offer discounts for buying a new policy before your current expiration date. Ten percent is about the average savings.
Consumers should know that some of the credits will not apply to the entire cost. A few only apply to specific coverage prices like comp or med pay. So even though they make it sound like you would end up receiving a 100% discount, companies don’t profit that way. Any amount of discount will help lower your overall bill.
A list of companies and a selection of discounts include:
- Esurance may offer discounts for defensive driver, online shopper, homeowner, DriveSense, and good student.
- The Hartford offers premium reductions for good student, vehicle fuel type, air bag, driver training, and anti-theft.
- AAA has savings for anti-theft, education and occupation, multi-car, good driver, pay-in-full, and multi-policy.
- Geico may include discounts for multi-vehicle, multi-policy, anti-lock brakes, air bags, and good student.
- State Farm may have discounts that include good student, good driver, Drive Safe & Save, driver’s education, and accident-free.
Before buying, ask all the companies to give you their best rates. Some credits may not apply to policyholders in every state. To find insurance companies that can offer you the previously mentioned discounts, click here.

You may need specialized car insurance coverage
When buying proper insurance coverage, there isn’t really a “best” method to buy coverage. Every situation is different.
For instance, these questions might help in determining whether your personal situation will benefit from professional help.
- What if I don’t agree with a claim settlement offer?
- Can I make deliveries for my home business?
- Where can I find DUI or SR-22 insurance?
- I have good health insurance, so how much medical payments coverage do I need?
- How do I buy GAP insurance?
- Am I covered if I drive in a foreign country?
- How does medical payments coverage work?
If it’s difficult to answer those questions then you might want to talk to a licensed agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, complete this form.
Insurance coverages and their meanings
Understanding the coverages of your policy helps when choosing the right coverages and proper limits and deductibles. Policy terminology can be ambiguous and reading a policy is terribly boring.
Auto liability insurance – Liability coverage provides protection from injuries or damage you cause to other people or property. It protects you from legal claims by others, and doesn’t cover damage to your own property or vehicle.
It consists of three limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You might see liability limits of 100/300/100 that translate to a limit of $100,000 per injured person, a per accident bodily injury limit of $300,000, and property damage coverage for $100,000.
Liability can pay for claims like funeral expenses, repair costs for stationary objects, pain and suffering and court costs. How much coverage you buy is a personal decision, but you should buy higher limits if possible.
Collision coverage – This covers damage to your S60 resulting from colliding with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You will need to pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision insurance covers claims such as scraping a guard rail, rolling your car and driving through your garage door. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from lower value vehicles. It’s also possible to bump up the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Protection from uninsured/underinsured drivers – Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle from other motorists when they are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. It can pay for injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and also any damage incurred to your Volvo S60.
Because many people only carry the minimum required liability limits, their limits can quickly be used up. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is a good idea.
Medical expense insurance – Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance kick in for bills for things like dental work, ambulance fees, EMT expenses and X-ray expenses. They can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you are not covered by health insurance. Medical payments and PIP cover all vehicle occupants as well as getting struck while a pedestrian. Personal Injury Protection is only offered in select states and may carry a deductible
Comprehensive (Other than Collision) – Comprehensive insurance coverage pays for damage from a wide range of events other than collision. A deductible will apply then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage pays for claims such as damage from a tornado or hurricane, damage from flooding, fire damage and rock chips in glass. The maximum payout a insurance company will pay at claim time is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle is not worth much consider dropping full coverage.
Cheaper insurance is a realistic goal
As you restructure your insurance plan, never skimp on coverage in order to save money. There are many occasions where an insured cut full coverage only to discover later that the savings was not a smart move. Your goal is to buy enough coverage for the lowest cost.
Drivers leave their current company for a variety of reasons including being labeled a high risk driver, delays in responding to claim requests, delays in paying claims or even an unsatisfactory settlement offer. It doesn’t matter what your reason, finding the right insurance provider is pretty simple and you could end up saving a buck or two.
Some companies may not offer online quoting and most of the time these smaller providers provide coverage only through local independent agents. Budget-friendly insurance is possible from both online companies and with local insurance agents, and you should compare rates from both to get a complete price analysis.
