Looking for cheaper car insurance rates for your Hyundai Santa Fe? I can’t think of anyone who is fond of buying car insurance, especially when the price is too high. You have multiple auto insurance companies to choose from, and although it’s a good thing to have multiple companies, more options can take longer to compare company pricing.
Quote auto insurance online
Comparing auto insurance rates can take time and effort if you don’t understand the fastest way to get free quotes. You could spend the better part of a day talking to local insurance agents in your area, or you could use the internet to maximize your effort.
All the larger companies participate in an industry program that enables customers to only type in their quote data once, and every company can give them a price determined by their information. This system prevents you from having to do form submissions for each company.

One minor caviat to pricing coverage this way is you don’t know exactly which carriers you want pricing from. If you prefer to choose specific providers to compare rates, we have a listing of low cost auto insurance companies in your area. Click to view list.
How you compare quotes is your choice, just make darn sure you compare apples-to-apples coverage limits and deductibles on every quote you get. If you compare different liability limits it will be next to impossible to get a fair rate comparison.

Find discounts on car insurance
Companies don’t always publicize the entire discount list in a way that’s easy to find, so the list below details a few of the more common and the more hidden credits available to lower your premiums when you buy insurance coverage online.
- Multi-Vehicle Discounts – Buying coverage for all your vehicles on the same car insurance policy can reduce rates for all insured vehicles.
- Mature Driver Discount – Older drivers could receive a discount up to 10% for Santa Fe coverage.
- Sign Early and Save – A few larger companies give discounts for switching companies prior to your current policy expiring. You can save around 10% with this discount.
- New Car Discount – Insuring a new car can get you a discount because newer vehicles keep occupants safer.
- Theft Deterent – Anti-theft and alarm system equipped vehicles are stolen less frequently and earn discounts up to 10% off your insurance coverage quote.
Discounts lower rates, but some credits don’t apply to the entire cost. Most only reduce individual premiums such as liability, collision or medical payments. So even though they make it sound like all those discounts means the company will pay you, companies don’t profit that way. But any discount will help lower your policy cost.
Companies and a selection of discounts can be read below.
- State Farm includes discounts for driver’s education, defensive driving training, anti-theft, multiple autos, Drive Safe & Save, and safe vehicle.
- Progressive has savings for multi-vehicle, online signing, online quote discount, continuous coverage, multi-policy, and good student.
- Progressive may offer discounts for continuous coverage, multi-vehicle, good student, online signing, multi-policy, and homeowner.
- MetLife policyholders can earn discounts including good driver, accident-free, multi-policy, defensive driver, claim-free, and good student.
- Farm Bureau may include discounts for multi-policy, 55 and retired, good student, safe driver, youthful driver, multi-vehicle, and renewal discount.
- Geico has discounts for multi-vehicle, defensive driver, multi-policy, federal employee, five-year accident-free, and membership and employees.
- SAFECO offers discounts for accident prevention training, teen safe driver, homeowner, teen safety rewards, multi-car, and anti-lock brakes.
When getting a coverage quote, ask each company how many discounts you can get. Depending on the company, some discounts may not apply to policies in your area. To view insurance companies that offer some of these discounts, click here.
Tailor your insurance coverage coverage to you
When it comes to choosing proper insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is no one size fits all plan. Each situation is unique and your policy should reflect that. For example, these questions might point out if you could use an agent’s help.
- Is my teenager covered with friends in the car?
- Am I covered by my employer’s commercial auto policy when driving my personal car for business?
- Who is covered by my policy?
- What discounts do I qualify for?
- Is borrowed equipment or tools covered if stolen or damaged?
- What is the difference between comprehensive and collision coverage?
If you’re not sure about those questions but a few of them apply, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed agent. To find an agent in your area, simply complete this short form or you can also visit this page to select a carrier It’s fast, doesn’t cost anything and can provide invaluable advice.
What auto insurance coverages do you need?
Learning about specific coverages of auto insurance can be of help when determining appropriate coverage at the best deductibles and correct limits. Auto insurance terms can be ambiguous and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording. These are the usual coverages offered by auto insurance companies.
Uninsured and underinsured coverage – Your UM/UIM coverage provides protection from other motorists when they either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. It can pay for hospital bills for your injuries and damage to your Hyundai Santa Fe.
Since a lot of drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is a good idea. Normally these limits are set the same as your liablity limits.
Collision coverages – Collision coverage pays for damage to your Santa Fe from colliding with an object or car. A deductible applies then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision can pay for claims like rolling your car, sideswiping another vehicle, hitting a mailbox and crashing into a building. Collision coverage makes up a good portion of your premium, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Drivers also have the option to choose a higher deductible to bring the cost down.
Liability – Liability coverage protects you from injuries or damage you cause to people or other property that is your fault. This insurance protects YOU against claims from other people, and doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.
Coverage consists of three different limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You commonly see limits of 50/100/50 which means a $50,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $100,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and property damage coverage for $50,000. Occasionally you may see a combined limit which limits claims to one amount rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability can pay for claims such as bail bonds, legal defense fees, court costs and medical expenses. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is your choice, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
Comprehensive coverages – Comprehensive insurance will pay to fix damage from a wide range of events other than collision. A deductible will apply and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive coverage pays for things like hitting a deer, fire damage, damage from a tornado or hurricane, damage from flooding and hitting a bird. The maximum amount you’ll receive from a claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value consider dropping full coverage.
Coverage for medical payments – Med pay and PIP coverage provide coverage for immediate expenses for doctor visits, chiropractic care and funeral costs. The coverages can be used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance program or if you are not covered by health insurance. Coverage applies to both the driver and occupants and also covers being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP coverage is only offered in select states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
