Searching for the cheapest insurance for a Toyota RAV4 EV can normally be difficult, but you can follow the following methods to find lower rates.
There is a right way and a wrong way to buy insurance coverage so we’re going to tell you the absolute fastest way to price shop coverage on a Toyota and get the cheapest rates.
Finding cheaper protection can be fairly easy. If you have insurance now or need new coverage, you can use these techniques to get lower rates and still get good coverage. Drivers just need to understand the tricks to shop online.
Cheap auto insurance rates with discounts
Insuring your fleet can be pricey, but you may qualify for discounts that you may not even know about. Certain discounts will be triggered automatically at the time of purchase, but occassionally some discounts must be asked for prior to getting the savings. If you do not double check each discount you deserve, you may be paying too high a price.
- No Claim Discounts – Good drivers with no accidents get the best auto insurance rates when compared to policyholders that have many claims.
- Sign Early and Save – Some companies provide a discount for buying a new policy before your current coverage expires. This can save 10% or more.
- Theft Prevention Discount – Anti-theft and alarm system equipped vehicles have a lower chance of being stolen and that can save you a little bit as well.
- ABS Brakes – Cars, trucks, and SUVs with ABS braking systems or traction control are safer to drive and the ABS can save up to 10%.
- Bundle and Save – If you insure your home and vehicles and place coverage with the same company you could get a discount of at least 10% off all policies.
Consumers should know that most credits do not apply to all coverage premiums. Some only apply to individual premiums such as physical damage coverage or medical payments. So even though you would think you would end up receiving a 100% discount, you’re out of luck. But all discounts should definitely cut the cost of your policy.
Some of the insurance companies who might offer many of the previously listed discounts include:
Before buying, ask each insurance company which discounts you may be entitled to. Some of the earlier mentioned discounts might not be available to policyholders in your area. To locate companies with the best discounts, follow this link.

Tailor your car insurance coverage to you
When buying adequate coverage for your vehicles, there isn’t really a single plan that fits everyone. Everyone’s needs are different.
These are some specific questions might help in determining if you may require specific advice.
- Should I bundle my homeowners policy with my auto?
- If I drive on a suspended license am I covered?
- Do I benefit by insuring my home with the same company?
- Is a new car covered when I drive it off the dealer lot?
- How can I find cheaper teen driver insurance?
- Can I make deliveries for my home business?
If it’s difficult to answer those questions but you know they apply to you, you might consider talking to an insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form. It’s fast, doesn’t cost anything and may give you better protection.
Insurance coverage advertisements
Drivers can’t get away from all the ads that promise big savings by Geico, State Farm and Progressive. They all advertise the message that people will save if you switch your policy.
How does each company charge you a lower premium? It’s all in the words they use.
Different companies provide the lowest rates for the type of driver that earns them the highest profit. One example of this type of insured might have to be over age 30, has had continuous coverage, and the vehicle is rated for pleasure use. Someone that hits that “sweet spot” will probably get cheap prices and therefore will save if they switch.
Potential insureds who cannot meet those standards will be quoted higher premium rates and this results in business going elsewhere. The ads say “people who switch” but not “all drivers who get quotes” save that much when switching. This is how companies can truthfully make it sound like they have such great premium rates.
Because every company is different, it’s extremely important to compare as many free car insurance quotes as you can. It’s just not possible to know which insurance companies will give you the biggest savings.
Auto insurance 101
Understanding the coverages of your car insurance policy can be of help when determining the best coverages for your vehicles. Policy terminology can be ambiguous and reading a policy is terribly boring.
Protection from uninsured/underinsured drivers
This coverage protects you and your vehicle when the “other guys” do not carry enough liability coverage. Covered losses include medical payments for you and your occupants and damage to your Toyota RAV4 EV.
Because many people only carry the minimum required liability limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is important protection for you and your family. Normally these limits are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
Liability coverages
This coverage provides protection from damage that occurs to other people or property that is your fault. This coverage protects you against claims from other people, and doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. As an example, you may have liability limits of 25/50/25 that translate to a limit of $25,000 per injured person, $50,000 for the entire accident, and a limit of $25,000 paid for damaged property. Alternatively, you may have a combined limit that pays claims from the same limit rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability can pay for things such as medical expenses, funeral expenses, structural damage, court costs and bail bonds. How much coverage you buy is a personal decision, but you should buy as large an amount as possible.
Comprehensive (Other than Collision)
Comprehensive insurance pays for damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first must pay your deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for things such as damage from a tornado or hurricane, hail damage, rock chips in glass, damage from getting keyed and damage from flooding. The most your car insurance company will pay is the cash value of the vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Collision coverage protection
Collision coverage pays for damage to your RAV4 EV from colliding with another car or object. You have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision coverage protects against things such as hitting a parking meter, sustaining damage from a pot hole, hitting a mailbox, crashing into a building and backing into a parked car. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so consider dropping it from lower value vehicles. You can also raise the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Medical expense insurance
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP reimburse you for short-term medical expenses for things like pain medications, surgery, ambulance fees and prosthetic devices. The coverages can be used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance plan or if you do not have health coverage. They cover all vehicle occupants and will also cover if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal injury protection coverage is not available in all states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay

Spend less. Save more.
Drivers leave their current company for many reasons like poor customer service, high rates after DUI convictions, unfair underwriting practices or policy non-renewal. No matter why you want to switch, choosing a new company is pretty easy and you might even save some money in the process.
Cheaper 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV insurance can be sourced online in addition to local insurance agencies, and you need to comparison shop both in order to have the best chance of saving money. Some insurance companies don’t offer rates over the internet and most of the time these small insurance companies provide coverage only through independent agencies.
When trying to cut insurance costs, it’s a bad idea to buy poor coverage just to save money. There are many occasions where someone sacrificed comprehensive coverage or liability limits only to find out that their decision to reduce coverage ended up costing them more. Your aim should be to buy the best coverage you can find at the lowest possible cost, but do not skimp to save money.
