Trying to find lower insurance coverage rates for your Scion FR-S? Searching for low-cost insurance for a new or used Scion FR-S can turn out to be a painful process, but you can learn a few tricks to find lower rates.
There are both good and bad ways to compare insurance coverage rates so we’re going to tell you the proper way to compare rates for a new or used Scion and locate the lowest possible price either online or from local insurance agents.
Smart consumers take time to get comparison quotes every six months because insurance coverage prices are constantly changing. Just because you found the best deal on FR-S coverage six months ago you can probably find a lower rate today. Forget anything you know (or think you know) about insurance coverage because you’re about to learn the things you must know in order to properly buy coverages while reducing your premium.
How to find cheap auto insurance
Many insurance companies like State Farm and Allstate provide prices for coverage directly from their websites. Getting online rates is quite easy as you just type in the amount of coverage you want on the page. Once you submit the form, their system will order your driving and credit reports and returns pricing information.
Being able to quote online makes it a lot easier to compare rates but having to visit several different sites and type in the same information can get tiresome after awhile. But it’s also necessary to have as many quotes as possible if you want to get the lowest price.
There is an easier way!
A more efficient way to compare rates is to use a quote form that analyzes rates from a lot of companies. This type of form saves time, requires less work, and makes online price comparison a lot less work. After your information is entered, it is quoted and you can select your choice of the returned quotes.
If you find a better price you can simply submit the application and buy the new coverage. It takes less than 15 minutes and can result in significant savings.
To save time and compare rates using this form now, click here and submit the form. If you currently have coverage, we recommend you copy deductibles and limits identical to your current policy. This guarantees you will get a fair comparison based on identical coverages.

Lower rate quotes by taking advantage of these ten discounts
Companies offering auto insurance don’t always advertise the complete list of policy discounts very clearly, so the list below details some of the more common as well as the least known discounts you could be receiving when you buy insurance coverage online. If you do not check that you are getting every discount you qualify for, you could be getting lower rates.
- Smart Student Discounts – Maintaining excellent grades can be rewarded with saving of up to 25%. Most companies allow this discount until age 25.
- Life Insurance – Not all insurance carriers offer life insurance, but some may give you a discounted rate on car insurance if you buy a life policy as well.
- E-sign – Some companies will give a small break for completing your application over the internet.
- Accident Waiver – Not really a discount, but certain companies will let one accident slide without raising rates if you are claim-free prior to being involved in the accident.
- Air Bags and Passive Restraints – Vehicles with factory air bags and/or automatic seat belt systems can receive discounts of more than 20%.
- Defensive Driver Discount – Taking part in a defensive driver course could earn you a small percentage discount and make you a better driver.
- Discounts for Good Drivers – Drivers who avoid accidents can get discounts for up to 45% lower rates on FR-S coverage than less cautious drivers.
- Senior Discount – Drivers over the age of 55 may receive better auto insurance rates on FR-S coverage.
- Low Miles Discount – Fewer annual miles on your Scion may allow you to get substantially lower auto insurancerates.
- Resident Student – College-age children who are enrolled in a college that is more than 100 miles from home and won’t have access to an insured vehicle could qualify for this discount.
As a footnote on discounts, most discounts do not apply to the overall cost of the policy. Most only cut specific coverage prices like comp or med pay. So despite the fact that it appears you could get a free auto insurance policy, you’re out of luck.
A few of the larger companies and a selection of discounts can be read below.
- Geico offers discounts including seat belt use, anti-theft, multi-policy, defensive driver, and membership and employees.
- SAFECO may include discounts for drive less, safe driver, multi-car, teen safe driver, anti-theft, teen safety rewards, and homeowner.
- State Farm may offer discounts for student away at school, safe vehicle, defensive driving training, anti-theft, accident-free, multiple autos, and Drive Safe & Save.
- MetLife has discounts for defensive driver, multi-policy, accident-free, good student, claim-free, and good driver.
- 21st Century offers discounts for defensive driver, homeowners, early bird, student driver, and teen driver.
- Progressive discounts include online quote discount, continuous coverage, good student, online signing, multi-policy, multi-vehicle, and homeowner.
If you need lower rates, check with all companies you are considering which discounts they offer. Some discounts may not be available in your area.
How much car insurance do I need?
When buying the best car insurance coverage, there isn’t really a one size fits all plan. Everyone’s situation is a little different.
For instance, these questions might help in determining if you may require specific advice.
- Will my rates increase for filing one claim?
- Is other people’s property covered if stolen from my vehicle?
- Should I waive the damage coverage when renting a car?
- How much can I save by bundling my policies?
- Should I have a commercial auto policy?
- Do I need an umbrella policy?
- When do I need to add a new car to my policy?
If you’re not sure about those questions then you might want to talk to an insurance agent. To find lower rates from a local agent, simply complete this short form. It’s fast, free and you can get the answers you need.
Parts of your insurance policy
Learning about specific coverages of your insurance policy can help you determine the best coverages and the correct deductibles and limits. The coverage terms in a policy can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP kick in for expenses for hospital visits, surgery, X-ray expenses and ambulance fees. They can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance program or if you do not have health coverage. It covers both the driver and occupants in addition to if you are hit as a while walking down the street. PIP is not an option in every state and may carry a deductible
Collision – Collision insurance pays for damage to your FR-S from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. A deductible applies and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision can pay for claims such as hitting a parking meter, colliding with another moving vehicle and driving through your garage door. This coverage can be expensive, so consider removing coverage from older vehicles. Another option is to increase the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Liability coverage – Liability insurance will cover injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people in an accident. Liability coverage has three limits: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have liability limits of 100/300/100 which means $100,000 bodily injury coverage, a per accident bodily injury limit of $300,000, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Occasionally you may see a combined single limit or CSL which limits claims to one amount and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability coverage pays for things like loss of income, structural damage and pain and suffering. How much liability coverage do you need? That is up to you, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) – This coverage gives you protection from other motorists when they do not carry enough liability coverage. Covered losses include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants and damage to your 2015 Scion FR-S.
Since a lot of drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is a good idea. Frequently these coverages do not exceed the liability coverage limits.
Comprehensive insurance – Comprehensive insurance coverage covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You need to pay your deductible first and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive insurance covers claims like rock chips in glass, a broken windshield, a tree branch falling on your vehicle and vandalism. The highest amount your insurance company will pay is the market value of your vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s not worth carrying full coverage.

Spend less. Save more.
When shopping online for insurance coverage, it’s not a good idea to buy poor coverage just to save money. Too many times, consumers will sacrifice uninsured motorist or liability limits and discovered at claim time that saving that couple of dollars actually costed them tens of thousands. Your goal is to buy the best coverage you can find at an affordable rate and still be able to protect your assets.
Consumers who switch companies do it for a variety of reasons including high rates after DUI convictions, policy cancellation, denial of a claim and even high prices. It doesn’t matter what your reason, switching companies is easier than you think.
You just read many ideas to lower your 2015 Scion FR-S insurance prices. The key thing to remember is the more companies you get rates for, the better chance you’ll have of finding cheap insurance coverage. Drivers may discover the best prices are with the least-expected company.
