Wish you could get out of an overpriced insurance coverage policy? Say no more because there are a lot of people just like you who feel imprisoned by their insurance coverage policy. Vehicle owners have so many insurance companies to choose from, and even though it’s nice to have a selection, it can be more challenging to find the best rates for your vehicles.
Cheap auto insurance price quotes online
Reducing your 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class insurance rates can be surprisingly simple. All that’s required is to invest a few minutes comparing rate quotes provided by online insurance companies. You can get a good selection of rate quotes in a couple of different ways.
- The easiest and least time consuming way to compare a lot of rates at once is an all-inclusive rate comparison click here to open form in new window. This form eliminates the need for repetitive form submissions for each company you want a rate for. Completing one form will return price quotes from auto insurance companies with the best prices.
- A more time consuming way to analyze rates consists of visiting each company’s website and get a separate price quote. For examples sake, let’s say you want comparison quotes from Liberty Mutual, State Farm and Allstate. To find out each rate you need to spend time going to each site individually to enter your coverage information, which is why the first method is quicker. For a list of companies in your area, click here.
Compare rates however you want, just be sure to compare equivalent coverage information for each price quote. If you enter different deductibles you will not be able to determine which rate is truly the best.

These discounts can lower your car insurance quotes
Auto insurance companies don’t always list all their discounts in an easy-to-find place, so the below list has both the well known as well as some of the hidden credits available to lower your premiums when you buy insurance online. If you don’t get every credit available, you are throwing money away.
- Distant Student Discount – Children who are enrolled in a college that is more than 100 miles from home and do not have a car could get you a discount.
- Discount for New Cars – Adding a new car to your policy can get you a discount because new model year vehicles have to meet stringent safety requirements.
- Federal Government Employee – Active or former government employment could cut as much as 10% off on C-Class insurance but check with your company.
- Multiple Policy Discount – If you combine your homeowners and auto policies with the same company they may give you a discount of 10% to 20% off each policy.
- Accident Free – Insureds with no claims or accidents pay less as opposed to accident-prone drivers.
- Defensive Driver – Completing a course in defensive driver can save you 5% or more and easily pay for the cost of the class.
- Seat Belts Save more than Lives – Drivers who require all vehicle occupants to use their safety belts may be able to save a few bucks off the medical payments premium.
- Pay Upfront and Save – By paying your entire bill at once instead of monthly or quarterly installments you may reduce your total bill.
- Smart Student Discounts – Maintaining excellent grades may save you up to 25%. Earning this discount can benefit you well after school through age 25.
- Military Rewards – Being on active duty in the military may qualify for rate reductions.
Remember that most of the big mark downs will not be given to your bottom line cost. Most cut the price of certain insurance coverages like collision or personal injury protection. Despite the appearance that it’s possible to get free car insurance, you aren’t that lucky.
Popular car insurance companies and some of the discounts include:
- State Farm may offer discounts for safe vehicle, multiple autos, multiple policy, accident-free, and good student.
- Geico has discounts for defensive driver, multi-policy, emergency military deployment, good student, and air bags.

Different people need different car insurance coverages
When buying adequate coverage, there really is not a cookie cutter policy. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s and your policy should reflect that. Here are some questions about coverages that might point out if your situation might need professional guidance.
- Do I need higher collision deductibles?
- Does my policy pay for OEM or aftermarket parts?
- What is roadside assistance coverage?
- Can I get a multi-policy discount for packaging my home and auto coverage?
- Does coverage extend to my business vehicle?
- Am I covered when using my vehicle for business?
- Which is better, split liability limits or combined limits?
- Does medical payments coverage apply to all occupants?
- Should I file a claim if it’s only slightly more than my deductible?
If you can’t answer these questions but a few of them apply, you might consider talking to a licensed agent. If you don’t have a local agent, simply complete this short form or you can also visit this page to select a carrier It’s fast, free and may give you better protection.
Car insurance 101
Learning about specific coverages of car insurance helps when choosing appropriate coverage at the best deductibles and correct limits. Car insurance terms can be impossible to understand and reading a policy is terribly boring. Shown next are the usual coverages offered by car insurance companies.
Comprehensive car insurance – Comprehensive insurance coverage will pay to fix damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims like damage from flooding, a broken windshield, rock chips in glass, falling objects and vandalism. The maximum amount your car insurance company will pay is the cash value of the vehicle, so if the vehicle is not worth much consider dropping full coverage.
Liability auto insurance – This provides protection from injuries or damage you cause to people or other property in an accident. It protects you from legal claims by others. It does not cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Coverage consists of three different limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have limits of 100/300/100 that means you have a $100,000 limit per person for injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $300,000, and a limit of $100,000 paid for damaged property. Alternatively, you may have a combined limit which provides one coverage limit with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability coverage protects against things like emergency aid, court costs, legal defense fees, structural damage and pain and suffering. How much coverage you buy is up to you, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as large an amount as possible.
Coverage for uninsured or underinsured drivers – Your UM/UIM coverage provides protection when the “other guys” either have no liability insurance or not enough. Covered claims include injuries to you and your family as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Because many people carry very low liability coverage limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. So UM/UIM coverage is a good idea. Frequently these coverages are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Collision coverages – Collision insurance pays for damage to your C-Class caused by collision with another car or object. You have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage pays for claims such as backing into a parked car, crashing into a building, sustaining damage from a pot hole, hitting a mailbox and sideswiping another vehicle. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are older. Another option is to choose a higher deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Coverage for medical expenses – Med pay and PIP coverage kick in for expenses for things like X-ray expenses, hospital visits, chiropractic care, nursing services and funeral costs. They can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you do not have health coverage. They cover all vehicle occupants and will also cover being hit by a car walking across the street. Personal Injury Protection is not available in all states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
