Want lower auto insurance rates for your Audi A8? Did a good deal turn out to be an expensive auto insurance policy? Don’t sweat it because you are not the only one feeling buyer’s remorse.
Many insurers compete to insure your vehicles, and because of this it can be hard to compare auto insurance companies to discover the definitive cheapest price
How to find the cheapest car insurance
When shopping for cheap insurance quotes, there are a couple of ways of comparing rates from car insurance companies in your area. One of the best ways to find the cheapest 2018 Audi A8 insurance rates is to use the internet to compare rates. This can be accomplished using a couple different methods.
- Experts agree that the best way to get quotes for comparison is to use a rate comparison form like this one (opens in new window). This style of form prevents you from having to do separate quotation requests for each price estimate. One quote request gets you price quotes from car insurance companies with the best prices.
- A slightly less efficient method to obtain and compare quotes online is spending the time to visit each company’s website and complete a new quote form. For example, let’s say you are doing a rate comparison from Nationwide, 21st Century and Progressive. In order to get each rate, you would have to navigate to each company’s site and punch in your information repeatedly, and that explains why we recommend the first method. For a handy list of car insurance company links in your area, click here.
- The least recommended method to find and compare rates is calling or driving to and from local insurance agencies. Doing it all online makes this unnecessary unless you have a need for the trained advice of a local agent. You can, however, comparison shop your insurance online but purchase the actual policy in an agency.
You can choose any of those ways to find more affodable coverage, but double check that you are using the same coverage information on every price quote you get. If you have different coverage information then you won’t be able to determine which company has the best rates. Even a minor difference in insurance coverages could throw off the whole comparison. And when comparing car insurance rates, know that comparing all the rates in your area will increase your chances of finding more affordable rates.

These discounts can lower your car insurance quotes
Buying car insurance is not cheap, but there could be available discounts that many consumers don’t even know exist. A few discounts will automatically apply at quote time, but some must be specifically requested in order for you to get them.
- Safe Driver Discounts – Insureds who avoid accidents may save up to 50% more for A8 insurance as compared to drivers with claims.
- Active Military Service – Having an actively deployed family member can result in better rates.
- Full Payment Discount – By paying your policy upfront instead of making monthly payments you may have a lower total premium amount.
- Telematics Data Discounts – Policyholders that allow driving data submission to track driving patterns through the use of a telematics system such as State Farm’s In-Drive could see a rate decrease if they are good drivers.
- Sign Early and Save – Select companies give a discount for switching companies before your current policy expires. You could save around 10% when you buy insurance online.
- Seat Belts Save more than Lives – Drivers who always wear seat belts and also require passengers to fasten their seat belts could cut 10% or more on the medical payments or PIP coverage costs.
Discounts lower rates, but most of the big mark downs will not be given the the whole policy. Most only reduce the price of certain insurance coverages like liability and collision coverage. So despite the fact that it appears it’s possible to get free car insurance, it’s just not the way it works.
Some companies that may include some of the above discounts include:
Check with every insurance company which discounts you may be entitled to. Some discounts listed above may not be available in every state. To locate insurers that offer the discounts shown above, click this link.
Informed consumers can reduce insurance rates
Many factors are part of the calculation when pricing auto insurance. Some are obvious like your driving record, but other factors are less apparent such as your marital status or how financially stable you are. When buying car insurance it’s important to understand the rating factors that are used to determine the rates you pay for car insurance. If you have some idea of what positively or negatively impacts your premiums, this allows you to make good choices that can help you get lower premium levels.
- Rates can change based on your address – Residing in areas with lower population can be a good thing if you are looking for the lowest rates. People in densly populated areas have much more traffic and more severe claims. Fewer drivers on the road means a lower chance of having an accident in addition to lower liability claims
- Marriage discount – Getting married may save some money on car insurance. It usually means you are more mature and statistics show being married results in fewer claims.
- Multiple policies with one company can save – Most car insurance companies allow discounts to people who buy several policies from them. It’s known as a multi-policy discount. Even with this discount applied, it’s still a good idea to shop around to guarantee you are still saving the most. It’s possible to still find a better deal by insuring with multiple companies.
- Save money by eliminating extra coverages – There are quite a few extra coverages that may not really be needed on your car insurance policy. Coverages like rental car reimbursement, high-cost glass coverage, and motor club memberships may be costing you every month. They may seem good when deciding what coverages you need, but if you don’t need them remove them and pocket the money.
Different people need different car insurance coverages
When it comes to buying the best car insurance coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no “perfect” insurance plan. Each situation is unique and your policy should reflect that. For example, these questions might help in determining if your insurance needs could use an agent’s help.
- What are the best liability limits?
- Are my friends covered when driving my 2018 Audi A8?
- Do I pay less for low miles?
- When should I drop full coverage on my 2018 Audi A8?
- How do I insure my teen driver?
- When should I not file a claim?
- Do I need medical payments coverage since I have good health insurance?
- Can I pay claims out-of-pocket if I buy high deductibles?
If it’s difficult to answer those questions but you think they might apply to your situation, you may need to chat with an insurance agent. If you don’t have a local agent, take a second and complete this form or go to this page to view a list of companies.

Auto insurance 101
Understanding the coverages of your policy aids in choosing appropriate coverage for your vehicles. The coverage terms in a policy can be impossible to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy. Shown next are the normal coverages found on most insurance policies.
Liability – This coverage protects you from injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people. This insurance protects YOU against other people’s claims, and doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.
It consists of three limits, bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. You commonly see policy limits of 50/100/50 that means you have a limit of $50,000 per injured person, $100,000 for the entire accident, and a limit of $50,000 paid for damaged property. Alternatively, you may have one limit called combined single limit (CSL) that pays claims from the same limit without having the split limit caps.
Liability coverage protects against things such as medical services, loss of income, attorney fees and pain and suffering. How much liability should you purchase? That is a decision to put some thought into, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase as high a limit as you can afford.
Insurance for medical payments – Medical payments and Personal Injury Protection insurance pay for immediate expenses such as ambulance fees, prosthetic devices, chiropractic care and dental work. They can be used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance plan or if you do not have health coverage. They cover both the driver and occupants and also covers any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP coverage is not available in all states but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision) – This pays to fix your vehicle from damage from a wide range of events other than collision. You need to pay your deductible first then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive insurance covers claims like hitting a bird, damage from a tornado or hurricane and vandalism. The maximum amount you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Collision – Collision insurance pays for damage to your A8 resulting from colliding with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision insurance covers claims like backing into a parked car, colliding with another moving vehicle, crashing into a ditch, damaging your car on a curb and hitting a parking meter. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from older vehicles. Drivers also have the option to choose a higher deductible to save money on collision insurance.
Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance – This provides protection from other motorists when they either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. This coverage pays for hospital bills for your injuries and damage to your Audi A8.
Since many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is a good idea. Most of the time the UM/UIM limits are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Be a money saver!
We just covered quite a bit of information on how to save on 2018 Audi A8 insurance. It’s most important to understand that the more you quote insurance, the better chance you’ll have of finding the cheapest insurance. Consumers could even find that the lowest priced insurance comes from a small local company. These smaller insurers can often insure niche markets at a lower cost than their larger competitors like Allstate, Geico and Progressive.
As you prepare to switch companies, don’t be tempted to buy less coverage just to save a little money. There are a lot of situations where an accident victim reduced collision coverage to discover at claim time that their decision to reduce coverage ended up costing them more. Your goal is to buy a smart amount of coverage at the best possible price and still be able to protect your assets.
