Trying to find the cheapest car insurance rates for your Chevrolet Lumina? Cutting costs on Driverscar insurance can be hard for drivers not familiar with comparing prices online. People have so many different companies and agents to choose from that it can quickly become a burden to find cheaper rates.
You should take the time to get comparison quotes before your policy renews because car insurance prices are usually higher with each renewal. Just because you found the best price on Lumina coverage two years ago you can probably find a better rate now. Forget anything you know (or think you know) about car insurance because it’s time to teach you the easiest way to find lower rates on car insurance.
Finding insurance coverage
Effectively comparing insurance coverage prices can take hours if you aren’t aware of the most efficient way to do it. You could spend the better part of a day talking to insurance agencies in your area, or you could save time and use online quotes to achieve your goal.
Most car insurance companies belong to a marketplace where prospective buyers submit their information once, and at least one company then returns a price quote based on the submitted data. This saves time by eliminating quote requests to each company.

One minor caviat to using this type of form is you cannot specify the insurers to receive prices from. If you wish to select individual companies to compare, we have a listing of insurance coverage companies in your area. Click here to view list.
Take whichever approach you prefer, but make darn sure you compare identical coverages on every price quote you get. If you are comparing unequal deductibles or liability limits you can’t possibly determine the lowest rate for your Chevy Lumina. Having just a slight variation in limits can make a big difference in price. Just remember that comparing more rates from different companies helps locate the best rates.

Which policy gives me the best coverage?
When it comes to buying the best insurance coverage coverage for your personal vehicles, there is no best way to insure your cars. Each situation is unique.
For example, these questions could help you determine whether you would benefit from professional advice.
- Can I pay claims out-of-pocket if I buy high deductibles?
- Do I need special endorsements for business use of my vehicle?
- Does coverage extend to Mexico or Canada?
- Why is insurance for a teen driver so high?
- Does liability extend to a camper or trailer?
- Do I really need UM/UIM coverage?
- Am I covered by my employer’s commercial auto policy when driving my personal car for business?
If you’re not sure about those questions but one or more may apply to you, you may need to chat with a licensed agent. To find an agent in your area, fill out this quick form.
Detailed coverages of your car insurance policy
Having a good grasp of car insurance can be of help when determining which coverages you need and proper limits and deductibles. The coverage terms in a policy can be ambiguous and coverage can change by endorsement.
Medical payments coverage and PIP
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage kick in for expenses for surgery, doctor visits, hospital visits and rehabilitation expenses. They can be used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance plan or if you are not covered by health insurance. Medical payments and PIP cover you and your occupants and will also cover any family member struck as a pedestrian. Personal Injury Protection is not universally available but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
Comprehensive coverage
Comprehensive insurance covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive coverage pays for claims such as fire damage, damage from a tornado or hurricane, hitting a deer and rock chips in glass. The maximum amount a car insurance company will pay at claim time is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage
Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle from other motorists when they do not carry enough liability coverage. This coverage pays for medical payments for you and your occupants and damage to your Chevy Lumina.
Due to the fact that many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is very important. Normally the UM/UIM limits are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
Collision coverage protection
This pays to fix your vehicle from damage resulting from colliding with another car or object. You first must pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage protects against things like crashing into a ditch, hitting a mailbox, hitting a parking meter, sideswiping another vehicle and crashing into a building. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so you might think about dropping it from lower value vehicles. Drivers also have the option to raise the deductible to bring the cost down.
Liability coverages
Liability insurance provides protection from injuries or damage you cause to other people or property in an accident. It protects YOU against claims from other people, and doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Liability coverage has three limits: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. You commonly see limits of 25/50/25 which stand for a limit of $25,000 per injured person, a per accident bodily injury limit of $50,000, and property damage coverage for $25,000. Another option is a combined single limit or CSL that pays claims from the same limit and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability can pay for claims like repair bills for other people’s vehicles, medical services, court costs, structural damage and bail bonds. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is a decision to put some thought into, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
