Looking for the cheapest car insurance rates for your Ford Ranger? Are you at wits end from not being able to afford to pay high car insurance rates every month? You are in the same boat as the majority of other drivers. With so many options, it is very difficult to find the most affordable car insurance provider.
How to compare free car insurance quotes
There are a variety of methods to compare car insurance prices but there is one way that is more efficient than others. You can spend countless hours discussing policy coverages with local insurance agents in your area, or you can utilize online quotes to get rates in a matter of minutes.
Many of the larger companies participate in an industry program that enables customers to submit one quote, and every company then gives them pricing determined by their information. This saves time by eliminating quote forms for every car insurance company.

The one downside to comparing rates this way is you can’t choose which insurance companies to receive prices from. If you would rather choose from a list of companies to compare rates, we have a page of car insurance companies in your area. View list of insurance companies.
Which method you use is up to you, but be sure you’re using equivalent quote data for each comparison quote. If you are comparing different deductibles it will be impossible to determine the lowest rate for your Ford Ranger.

Insurance coverage discounts are available to slash your rates
Auto insurance companies don’t always publicize every discount they offer in an easy-to-find place, so we took the time to find some of the best known and also the more inconspicuous insurance coverage savings.
- ABS and Traction Control Discounts – Vehicles equipped with ABS or steering control are much safer to drive and the ABS can save up to 10%.
- Multi-line Discount – Insurance companies who offer life insurance give lower insurance coveragerates if you buy a life policy as well.
- Student Discount for Driver Training – Cut your cost by having your teen driver enroll and complete driver’s education in school or through a local driver safety program.
- Accident Forgiveness Coverage – This one isn’t a discount, but certain companies allow you one accident before your rates go up if you have no claims prior to being involved in the accident.
- Senior Citizen Rates – Seniors are able to get a small decrease in premiums on Ranger coverage.
Please keep in mind that some of the credits will not apply to the overall cost of the policy. Some only reduce individual premiums such as medical payments or collision. So even though it sounds like all the discounts add up to a free policy, that’s just not realistic. Any qualifying discounts will bring down your policy premium.
A partial list of companies who might offer most of the discounts above possibly include:
Double check with each company or agent which discounts you may be entitled to. All car insurance discounts might not apply everywhere. To see companies that offer many of these discounts, click this link.
Everyone needs different insurance coverages
When choosing coverage for your personal vehicles, there really is no single plan that fits everyone. Each situation is unique so your insurance should reflect that For example, these questions may help you determine whether your personal situation will benefit from professional help.
- Does insurance cover tools stolen from my truck?
- Do all my vehicles need collision coverage?
- What is high-risk coverage and where do I buy it?
- How much liability coverage do I need in my state?
- Can I make deliveries for my home business?
- Why am I be forced to buy a membership to get insurance from some companies?
If you’re not sure about those questions, then you may want to think about talking to an agent. To find an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form or click here for a list of insurance companies in your area. It is quick, free and may give you better protection.
Insurance coverage options for a Ford Ranger
Understanding the coverages of your insurance policy helps when choosing the right coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. Policy terminology can be impossible to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording. These are the normal coverages found on most insurance policies.
Auto liability insurance
Liability coverage can cover damage that occurs to people or other property that is your fault. This coverage protects you against other people’s claims, and does not provide coverage for damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have liability limits of 25/50/25 that means you have a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, a total of $50,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident, and property damage coverage for $25,000. Alternatively, you may have a combined limit which provides one coverage limit with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability insurance covers claims such as attorney fees, loss of income, bail bonds, medical services and repair bills for other people’s vehicles. How much coverage you buy is a decision to put some thought into, but consider buying as large an amount as possible.
Comprehensive coverage (or Other than Collision)
This pays for damage from a wide range of events other than collision. You first have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage protects against things like damage from getting keyed, damage from flooding and damage from a tornado or hurricane. The most you’ll receive from a claim is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle is not worth much it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
Uninsured Motorist or Underinsured Motorist insurance
This provides protection from other drivers when they are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered losses include hospital bills for your injuries and damage to your Ford Ranger.
Due to the fact that many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. So UM/UIM coverage is very important. Frequently these coverages are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
Auto collision coverage
Collision insurance will pay to fix damage to your Ranger caused by collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You will need to pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage protects against things like damaging your car on a curb, hitting a parking meter, colliding with a tree and backing into a parked car. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so consider removing coverage from older vehicles. You can also bump up the deductible to bring the cost down.
Insurance for medical payments
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP pay for short-term medical expenses for ambulance fees, pain medications and funeral costs. They are often used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance program or if you lack health insurance entirely. Coverage applies to not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and also covers being hit by a car walking across the street. PIP coverage is not available in all states but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
