If you are new to online insurance coverage, you may be bewildered because of the huge number of insurance providers all claiming to have the lowest rates.
It is always a good idea to do price comparisons before your policy renews because prices trend upward over time. Just because you had the best rate for 626 insurance a few years ago the chances are good that you can find a lower premium rate today. Forget all the misinformation about insurance coverage because you’re about to learn one of the easiest ways to find better coverage at a better price.
Low cost insurance prices
Shopping for lower insurance rates can be exhausting if you aren’t aware of the most efficient way to do it. You can waste a few hours (or days) talking about coverages with agents in your area, or you can stay home and use the web to get pricing more quickly.
Most of the best insurance companies belong to a marketplace where prospective buyers submit their information once, and each participating company can provide price quotes based on that information. This saves time by eliminating form submissions to every company.
To find out how much you can save on insurance click here (opens in new window).
The one disadvantage to using this type of system is you are unable to specify which providers you want pricing from. If you would rather choose specific providers to compare rates, we have a page of insurance companies in your area. Click to view list.
Whichever way you use, ensure you are comparing identical coverage limits and deductibles for each price quote. If you compare different values for each quote it will be nearly impossible to truly determine the lowest rate. Quoting even small variations in insurance coverages may result in large price differences. And when comparing insurance rates, know that comparing a wide range of rates helps improve the odds of finding better pricing. Not every company does prices over the internet, so it’s recommended that you also compare price estimates from the smaller companies as well.

Car insurance rates and discounts
Car insurance is not an enjoyable expense, but you may find discounts that can help lower your rates. Certain credits will be shown at the time you complete a quote, but a few must be specifically requested before being credited.
- Braking Control Discount – Cars and trucks with ABS and/or traction control are much safer to drive and therefore earn up to a 10% discount.
- Discount for Low Mileage – Maintaining low annual mileage could earn cheaper car insurancerates.
- First Accident Forgiveness – Not a discount per se, but companies like Geico and Allstate permit an accident without getting socked with a rate hike if you are claim-free for a set time period.
- Buy New and Save – Adding a new car to your policy can get you a discount due to better safety requirements for new vehicles.
- More Vehicles More Savings – Drivers who insure multiple vehicles on a single policy can get a discount on all vehicles.
- Student Discounts – This discount can be rewarded with saving of up to 25%. The discount lasts until age 25.
- Senior Citizen Rates – If you’re over the age of 55, you may receive a small decrease in premiums for 626 insurance.
- Pay Early and Save – By paying your policy upfront instead of making monthly payments you can avoid the installment charge.
Discounts save money, but please remember that some of the credits will not apply the the whole policy. Most cut individual premiums such as physical damage coverage or medical payments. Even though the math looks like having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, companies wouldn’t make money that way.

Situations that may require an agent’s advice
When choosing coverage for your vehicles, there really is no “best” method to buy coverage. Every situation is different.
These are some specific questions could help you determine whether you would benefit from an agent’s advice.
- What exactly is covered by my policy?
- Is my dog or cat covered if injured in an accident?
- Do I have newly-aquired coverage?
- Should I have combined single limit or split liability limits?
- What if I owe more than I can insure my car for?
- When would I need rental car insurance?
- What is covered by UM/UIM coverage?
- How high should deductibles be on a 1994 Mazda 626?
If you’re not sure about those questions but one or more may apply to you, you might consider talking to a licensed insurance agent. If you don’t have a local agent, simply complete this short form.
What insurance coverages do you need?
Learning about specific coverages of your insurance policy helps when choosing the best coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. The terms used in a policy can be difficult to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording.
UM/UIM Coverage
Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage provides protection from other drivers when they are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as damage to your Mazda 626.
Since a lot of drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. So UM/UIM coverage is very important.
Coverage for liability
Liability insurance can cover injuries or damage you cause to other’s property or people in an accident. This insurance protects YOU against other people’s claims. Liability doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. You commonly see liability limits of 100/300/100 that means you have $100,000 in coverage for each person’s injuries, a per accident bodily injury limit of $300,000, and property damage coverage for $100,000.
Liability coverage pays for things such as medical expenses, funeral expenses and legal defense fees. How much liability should you purchase? That is up to you, but buy higher limits if possible.
Comprehensive or Other Than Collision
This pays for damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. You first must pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive insurance covers claims like theft, damage from flooding, hitting a bird, a broken windshield and vandalism. The highest amount your insurance company will pay is the actual cash value, so if the vehicle’s value is low consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Coverage for collisions
Collision coverage covers damage to your 626 resulting from a collision with a stationary object or other vehicle. You have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage pays for claims like rolling your car, crashing into a building, hitting a parking meter and damaging your car on a curb. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so consider dropping it from older vehicles. It’s also possible to increase the deductible to bring the cost down.
Medical costs insurance
Med pay and PIP coverage provide coverage for bills for things like funeral costs, nursing services, hospital visits and dental work. They are used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance program or if you do not have health coverage. They cover not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and will also cover getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP is not universally available but can be used in place of medical payments coverage

Have money to burn
You just learned a lot of techniques to get a better price on 1994 Mazda 626 insurance. It’s most important to understand that the more companies you get prices for, the more likely it is that you will get a better rate. Consumers may even find the biggest savings come from some of the smallest insurance companies.
Cheaper car insurance can be found from both online companies in addition to local insurance agencies, and you should be comparing both to have the best rate selection. A few companies do not offer internet price quotes and most of the time these small, regional companies work with local independent agencies.
As you shop your coverage around, make sure you don’t skimp on critical coverages to save a buck or two. There are a lot of situations where an insured cut full coverage only to regret at claim time that the few dollars in savings costed them thousands. The goal is to buy a smart amount of coverage at an affordable rate, not the least amount of coverage.
