Want cheaper insurance coverage rates for your Nissan Frontier? There isn’t anyone who looks forward to paying for insurance coverage, especially when they know the cost is too high.
Insurance companies such as Allstate, Progressive and Geico continually hit you with advertising and it is challenging if not impossible to see through the cute green geckos and mayhem and effectively compare rates to find the best deal.
If you currently have car insurance, you will be able to lower your premiums substantially using these methods. Choosing the best insurance company for you is not that difficult. Nevertheless, vehicle owners need to have an understanding of how big insurance companies compete online and take advantage of how the system works.
How much is insurance?
There are a lot of ways to compare insurance quotes, but there is one way that is less time-consuming than others. You can waste a few hours (or days) talking about coverages with agents in your area, or you could save time and use online quotes to get rates in a matter of minutes.
Most of the best insurance companies take part in a program that allows shoppers to enter their policy data once, and each participating company returns a competitive quote based on that data. This system prevents you from having to do repetitive form submissions to every company.
To participate in this free quote system, click to open in new window.
One minor caviat to using this type of form is you are unable to specify the insurers you will receive quotes from. So if you want to select from a list of companies to compare rates, we have a page of insurance companies in your area. View list of insurance companies.
The approach you take is up to you, just try to keep identical coverage data for every company. If you have different coverage information it will be nearly impossible to make a fair comparison for your Nissan Frontier. Even a minor difference in coverage limits can make a big difference in price. It’s important to know that comparing more quotes will enable you to find lower pricing. Some regional insurers cannot provide price estimates online, so it’s important to also get price estimates on coverage from those companies, too.

Get lower-cost auto insurance rates with discounts
Auto insurance is easily one of your largest bills, but there could be available discounts that can drop the cost substantially. Many of these discounts will be applied automatically when you get a quote, but some need to be asked about in order for you to get them. If you don’t get every credit available, you are throwing money away.
- Active Service Discounts – Having an actively deployed family member could qualify you for better premium rates.
- Fewer Miles Equal More Savings – Low annual miles may allow you to get better prices on cars that stay parked.
- Sign Early and Save – Select auto insurance companies give a discount for signing up before your current coverage expires. You may see this discount when you get auto insurance quotes online.
- No Claims – Drivers who don’t have accidents can earn big discounts as compared to drivers with a long claim history.
- Data Collection Discounts – People who choose to allow their insurance company to study driving patterns by using a small device installed in their vehicle such as Drivewise from Allstate or Snapshot from Progressive may get a rate reduction if they are good drivers.
- Passive Restraint Discount – Vehicles equipped with air bags or motorized seat belts can qualify for discounts of 20 to 30 percent.
- Good Student Discount – Excelling in school may save as much as 25% on a auto insurance quote. The discount lasts up to age 25.
- Membership in Organizations – Belonging to qualifying clubs or civic groups could trigger savings on your next renewal.
It’s important to note that some of the credits will not apply to all coverage premiums. Most only cut individual premiums such as collision or personal injury protection. Even though it may seem like all those discounts means the company will pay you, nobody gets a free ride.

Tailor your auto insurance coverage to you
When choosing adequate coverage, there is no single plan that fits everyone. Each situation is unique so your insurance should reflect that Here are some questions about coverages that can help discover whether you may require specific advice.
- Is a blown tire covered by insurance?
- Should I bundle my homeowners policy with my auto?
- Is there coverage for injuries to my pets?
- Will my insurance pay for OEM parts?
- Are split liability limits better than a combined single limit?
- Am I covered by my employer’s commercial auto policy when driving my personal car for business?
- Does liability extend to a camper or trailer?
- How much can I save by bundling my policies?
- What is roadside assistance coverage?
If you don’t know the answers to these questions but a few of them apply, then you may want to think about talking to an insurance agent. To find an agent in your area, simply complete this short form or go to this page to view a list of companies.
Insurance coverages 101
Having a good grasp of your policy can be of help when determining which coverages you need and proper limits and deductibles. The terms used in a policy can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy. Shown next are typical coverage types found on the average insurance policy.
Uninsured and underinsured coverage – This coverage protects you and your vehicle when other motorists either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered claims include injuries sustained by your vehicle’s occupants as well as your vehicle’s damage.
Due to the fact that many drivers only carry the minimum required liability limits, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. This is the reason having UM/UIM coverage is important protection for you and your family. Most of the time your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverages are similar to your liability insurance amounts.
Comprehensive coverages – Comprehensive insurance pays to fix your vehicle from damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims such as damage from flooding, rock chips in glass, damage from getting keyed, falling objects and hail damage. The highest amount your insurance company will pay is the actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Coverage for medical payments – Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage kick in for expenses for ambulance fees, rehabilitation expenses, surgery, prosthetic devices and X-ray expenses. The coverages can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you do not have health coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover all vehicle occupants in addition to getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP is not universally available and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Liability insurance – This coverage can cover damage or injury you incur to a person or their property. This insurance protects YOU from claims by other people. Liability doesn’t cover damage sustained by your vehicle in an accident.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury for each person, bodily injury for the entire accident, and a limit for property damage. Your policy might show policy limits of 50/100/50 which means a limit of $50,000 per injured person, a limit of $100,000 in injury protection per accident, and $50,000 of coverage for damaged propery. Occasionally you may see one limit called combined single limit (CSL) which combines the three limits into one amount and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability can pay for things such as bail bonds, pain and suffering, legal defense fees and medical services. How much liability should you purchase? That is your choice, but you should buy as high a limit as you can afford.
Collision coverages – This pays for damage to your Frontier caused by collision with an object or car. You will need to pay your deductible then your collision coverage will kick in.
Collision coverage pays for claims such as colliding with a tree, hitting a parking meter and sideswiping another vehicle. This coverage can be expensive, so consider removing coverage from lower value vehicles. You can also choose a higher deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
