Finding the cheapest insurance for your Nissan 300ZX could be a painful process, but you can learn a few tricks to find lower rates.
There are more efficient ways to compare car insurance rates and we’ll show you the quickest way to price shop coverage for a new or used Nissan and find the lowest price from both online companies and local agents.
It’s smart to shop coverage around at least once a year because car insurance prices fluctuate regularly. Even if you think you had the lowest rates for 300ZX insurance last year a different company probably has better rate quotes today. There is a lot of bad advice regarding car insurance on the web, but in just a couple of minutes you can learn some of the best ways to save money.
Affordable car insurance quotes
Comparing car insurance rates can take time and effort if you don’t know the fastest way to get free quotes. You can waste a few hours (or days) talking to local insurance agents in your area, or you could save time and use online quotes to achieve your goal.
Many of the larger companies are enrolled in a marketplace that allows shoppers to send in one quote, and every company can give them a price based on the submitted data. This eliminates the need for quotation requests to each individual car insurance company.
To participate in this free quote system, click to open in new window.
One minor caviat to pricing coverage this way is you are unable to specify the companies you will receive quotes from. So if you prefer to choose specific insurance companies for rate comparison, we have a listing of the cheapest car insurance companies in your area. Click to view list.
Which method you use is up to you, but ensure you are comparing nearly identical coverages and limits for every quote you compare. If your comparisons have unequal deductibles or liability limits then you won’t be able to truly determine the lowest rate.

Your situation helps dictate your coverage
When choosing coverage for your vehicles, there isn’t really a “perfect” insurance plan. Each situation is unique.
These are some specific questions can help discover if your situation may require specific advice.
- Do I have coverage if my license is suspended?
- Does my policy cover me when driving someone else’s vehicle?
- I don’t drive much so do I pay less?
- When should my teen driver be added to my policy?
- Do I need PIP coverage since I have good health insurance?
- What can I do if my company denied a claim?
- Is business equipment covered while in my vehicle?
- Does my policy pay for OEM or aftermarket parts?
- Does coverage extend to Mexico or Canada?
If you can’t answer these questions but a few of them apply, you may need to chat with a licensed agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form. It only takes a few minutes and can provide invaluable advice.
Insurance specifics
Knowing the specifics of your insurance policy can help you determine which coverages you need and the correct deductibles and limits. The terms used in a policy can be ambiguous and nobody wants to actually read their policy.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) – This coverage provides protection when the “other guys” do not carry enough liability coverage. Covered claims include injuries to you and your family and also any damage incurred to your 1996 Nissan 300ZX.
Since many drivers have only the minimum liability required by law, it doesn’t take a major accident to exceed their coverage limits. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages is a good idea. Normally these limits are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
Comprehensive insurance – This coverage will pay to fix damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be covered by your comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage pays for things like hail damage, hitting a bird and theft. The highest amount your insurance company will pay is the actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value consider dropping full coverage.
Med pay and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) – Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP provide coverage for bills such as hospital visits, dental work, prosthetic devices, surgery and rehabilitation expenses. They are used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance policy or if you do not have health coverage. They cover not only the driver but also the vehicle occupants and also covers any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP is only offered in select states and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Collision – Collision coverage will pay to fix damage to your 300ZX from colliding with an object or car. You will need to pay your deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision coverage pays for things like hitting a mailbox, rolling your car and damaging your car on a curb. This coverage can be expensive, so consider removing coverage from older vehicles. It’s also possible to choose a higher deductible to save money on collision insurance.
Liability insurance – Liability coverage can cover damages or injuries you inflict on other people or property that is your fault. This coverage protects you from legal claims by others. Liability doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.
It consists of three limits, bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. Your policy might show policy limits of 50/100/50 that means you have a limit of $50,000 per injured person, a per accident bodily injury limit of $100,000, and property damage coverage for $50,000. Alternatively, you may have a combined limit which limits claims to one amount rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability insurance covers claims such as emergency aid, attorney fees and repair bills for other people’s vehicles. How much liability should you purchase? That is your choice, but buy as much as you can afford.
