Want better car insurance rates for your Volkswagen Jetta? Overpriced Volkswagen Jetta insurance can sap your checking account and make it impossible to make ends meet. People have so many car insurance companies to choose from, and although it’s a good thing to have a selection, having more car insurance companies makes it harder to compare company pricing.
Which insurance coverage is cheapest?
All major insurance coverage companies like 21st Century, Allstate and State Farm make it easy to get prices for coverage from their websites. Getting quotes can be done by anyone as you just enter your coverage preferences into the quote form. When complete, their rating system will order your driving and credit reports and returns a price based on many factors. Quoting online helps simplify price comparisons, but the process of having to visit many different websites and fill out multiple forms can get tiresome after awhile. But it’s also necessary to get many rate quotes if you want to find better prices.
A more efficient way to get multiple rate quotes is to use a quote form to obtain quotes from several different companies. The form is fast, eliminates form submissions, and makes quoting online much more efficient. Immediately after you send the form, it gets priced with multiple companies and you can pick any of the quote results.
If a lower price is quoted, you can simply submit the application and purchase the new policy. This process can be completed in less than 10 minutes and may save quite a bit of money.
If you want to compare pricing, click here and complete the simple form. If you have your current policy handy, we recommend you replicate the coverage information as shown on your current policy. This helps ensure you’re receiving a price comparison based on similar coverages.

Save money with these discounts
Insurance can be prohibitively expensive, but you can get discounts that can drop the cost substantially. Certain reductions will be credited when you quote, but some discounts are required to be specifically requested in order for you to get them. If you check and find you aren’t receiving every discount you deserve, you are just wasting money.
- Auto/Home Discount – When you combine your auto and home insurance with one company you could save up to 20% and get you cheaper car insurance.
- Driver Training Discounts – Participating in a defensive driver course could earn you a small percentage discount and make you a better driver.
- Theft Deterent System – Cars, trucks, and SUVs equipped with tracking devices and advanced anti-theft systems help deter theft and qualify for as much as a 10% discount.
- Telematics Discount – Insureds who allow driving data submission to look at vehicle usage by using a small device installed in their vehicle such as In-Drive from State Farm or Allstate’s Drivewise system might see lower rates if their driving habits are good.
- Accident Forgiveness – This one is not really a discount per se, but some insurance companies permit an accident without raising rates if your claims history is clear for a certain period of time.
Discounts save money, but please remember that most discounts do not apply to the entire policy premium. Some only reduce individual premiums such as liability and collision coverage. Even though it appears having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, you aren’t that lucky.
Companies and some of the premium reductions they offer can be read below.
- Progressive may have discounts that include multi-policy, good student, multi-vehicle, online quote discount, and homeowner.
- AAA has discounts for pay-in-full, multi-car, AAA membership discount, good student, multi-policy, and education and occupation.
- Farmers Insurance includes discounts for teen driver, alternative fuel, distant student, homeowner, good student, early shopping, and business and professional.
- Geico has savings for good student, seat belt use, five-year accident-free, defensive driver, multi-vehicle, and emergency military deployment.
- Esurance discounts include claim free, homeowner, paid-in-full, Switch & Save, and multi-car.
- SAFECO may include discounts for safe driver, accident prevention training, homeowner, teen safety rewards, teen safe driver, multi-car, and drive less.
- State Farm may offer discounts for Drive Safe & Save, multiple policy, accident-free, student away at school, good driver, and Steer Clear safe driver discount.
If you need inexpensive car insurance quotes, ask all companies you are considering which discounts they offer. Savings might not be offered in every state. To locate auto insurance companies with the best discounts, click here to view.
Auto insurance can be complex
When buying adequate coverage for your vehicles, there really is not a best way to insure your cars. Everyone’s situation is a little different and your policy should reflect that. These are some specific questions may help you determine if you might need professional guidance.
- Can I rate high risk drivers on liability-only vehicles?
- Does car insurance cover theft of personal property?
- Is my dog or cat covered if injured in an accident?
- What is high-risk coverage and where do I buy it?
- Why do I need rental car insurance?
- If my 1999 Volkswagen Jetta is totaled, can I afford another vehicle?
- Am I covered when driving in Canada or Mexico?
- I have a DUI can I still get coverage?
- Does insurance cover tools stolen from my truck?
- When can I cancel my policy?
If you’re not sure about those questions but you know they apply to you, you may need to chat with a licensed insurance agent. If you don’t have a local agent, simply complete this short form or you can go here for a list of companies in your area. It’s fast, doesn’t cost anything and you can get the answers you need.
Specifics of your auto insurance policy
Learning about specific coverages of your policy helps when choosing appropriate coverage and proper limits and deductibles. Policy terminology can be difficult to understand and nobody wants to actually read their policy. These are the normal coverages available from auto insurance companies.
Medical costs insurance
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage provide coverage for bills like X-ray expenses, chiropractic care, pain medications and doctor visits. They are used to cover expenses not covered by your health insurance plan or if you lack health insurance entirely. Medical payments and PIP cover both the driver and occupants and will also cover any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP is not universally available and may carry a deductible
Liability insurance
Liability coverage can cover damages or injuries you inflict on other people or property by causing an accident. This coverage protects you against claims from other people. Liability doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Coverage consists of three different limits, bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. As an example, you may have policy limits of 100/300/100 that means you have $100,000 bodily injury coverage, $300,000 for the entire accident, and $100,000 of coverage for damaged propery. Occasionally you may see a combined single limit or CSL which limits claims to one amount without having the split limit caps.
Liability insurance covers things such as legal defense fees, repair costs for stationary objects, attorney fees, medical services and funeral expenses. How much liability coverage do you need? That is a personal decision, but buy as much as you can afford.
UM/UIM Coverage
This protects you and your vehicle from other drivers when they either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants as well as damage to your Volkswagen Jetta.
Since many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage should not be overlooked. Frequently the UM/UIM limits are identical to your policy’s liability coverage.
Comprehensive or Other Than Collision
Comprehensive insurance coverage pays for damage from a wide range of events other than collision. A deductible will apply and then insurance will cover the rest of the damage.
Comprehensive can pay for things such as damage from flooding, vandalism, rock chips in glass and hail damage. The maximum amount your auto insurance company will pay is the ACV or actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.
Auto collision coverage
This coverage covers damage to your Jetta caused by collision with an object or car. You have to pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision coverage pays for things such as backing into a parked car, scraping a guard rail, colliding with another moving vehicle, driving through your garage door and sustaining damage from a pot hole. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so consider dropping it from lower value vehicles. It’s also possible to increase the deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.
